What's In A Name? [Update]

As an amendment to this post from yesterday I wanted to mention that Asos is also hawking a Made in England brogue.  Like the previous mentioned hardbottoms it is made in the Trickers factory and being sold at a very non-Trickers price.  Act now or forever wear crap shoes.

If you have the scratch you can also grab these other brogues that are not currently on sale, but still cheap in the grand ol' scheme of "bench made in England".

P- "Brogue" is an English term, "wingtip" is USA nomenclature.

  8. "Suits and Boots" is an old English expression for wearing proper business attire so YES, you can wear a nice boot with a suit. Boots are often worn in the winter or when its wet outside...

  9. I saw a girl in brogued boots today. It put new meaning to the term "puss in boots". I was shocked (because I finally got to use that pun more than that she looked good in them).

  10. I don't want to pick holes here but the lining of that Asos brogue isn't finished very well.

  11. Dear all,

Just to put an end to this rumor/PR-trick: These loafers, and non of the other "Asos Made in England" shoes, are made by Trickers. I just spoke to Tricker's sales manager Roy Martiniak, and he was quite upset about it. It seems like Jason Dike at Selectism got this information not from "the horses mouths" but from the horses rears.

The shoes are clearly not up to Tricker's standards, quite obvious if looking at the pictures. They are in fact, as mentioned in the Asos on-line store, made by NPS shoes Ltd.

And I just visited Selectism again: They had erased the entire post.

    Yours,
    Mr. Tweed
