A Summer Wedding By L.L. Bean Signature

L.L. Bean Signature is having a small 20% off sale on a few select items.  Looking at the sale quickly I realized you could get a full breezy, summer wedding kit for $287 (suit in navy, khaki or stone), which is a pretty damn good deal when you figure just a suit alone often costs twice as much.  Use your left over change to get it tailored perfectly and you're good to go bag some bridesmaids.  Check it...

  1. Have you seen any feedback on this suit? I'm only 5'8 1/2" tall, but wear a 42. It looks like it would be long. What do you think?

  2. What is the quality and fit of those polos? I am really into the Nantucket Red and Drake Blue ones. I am a skinny guy so I need a rather fitted polo in order to not be swimming in the thing.

  3. Sam- I don't know anyone who has copped it yet. Is it something you think your tailor can handle? If so I would get it know while it is cheap.

Keaton- I hear the quality is good and while the fit has improved over normal LL Bean it is still a little large so if I was you I would cop a small.

  4. Ooh, a three button suit - so unfortunate (and it's as if they are trying to hide that detail, which annoys me). I don't do three buttons. Otherwise, I'd jump on it.

  6. Dan- Press that shit and make it a 3/2 roll son.

Corey- Yeah, but then you'd have to drop monies on a shirt and shoes...just sayin'.

  7. My favorite suit is a rolled 3-button. Fit better and looked better than the 2-button version of the same model. That would not stop me on this one. However, if the jacket length is too long, no tailor can fix that.

  8. Sam- Take advantage of LL Bean's return policy. That is my advice.

  9. I hadn't even notice that color of the Casco Bay Boat shoes before...very nice.

  10. Dan - they aren't trying to hide anything. That suit jacket's button stance is was LAS corrected referred to as a "3/2 roll" as in three buttons but the lapel rolls to the middle one so that it buttons like a two. Only the middle button is meant to be fastened. This is arguably the most traditional American style. You should try it out.

Sam - I'm fairly certain that part of the whole updating process of the signature line was making the tailored clothing closer to the body and shorter so I would not be worried about jacket length.

  12. I jumped on the suit ... needing a summer Navy, a big expense for me.

I'm only 5'6"-7"ish, have narrow waist and narrow shoulders, so I have a hard time finding suits that fit me well, but if it's cut anywhere near the J.Crew Ludlow (which the 38S fits me perfectly), then this should be a winner.

I'm hoping this suit will be good summer suit for my honeymoon but also shooting weddings.
