The Image Of Tailored Perfection

This just in: Mister Crew has posted some navy sportcoat images from the Japanese magazine Men's Ex - one of which happens to be the Sart Inc image of tailored perfection. Six button double breasted blue blazer, check. Gray trousers with the perfect cuff, check. Spread collar, check.  Twisted tie, check. Double monkstraps, check.  I'll be damned if this isn't the way I dress in my head. Actually, I have most of these items in spring ready fabrics so I will try my hand at this shortly. And, before I forget, who wants to hook a brother up with subscription to Men's Ex?

  1. Can't agree more. Absolutely fabulous...in a very masculine sort of way. :)

  2. The jacket is too short and too tight.
The trousers are too short and their color doesn't go with the tie or shirt.

    All-in-all, most disappointing.

  3. Anon @2:30- Damn dude, I couldn't disagree more. Your tailored look and my tailored look are two different monsters. We should go toe-to-toe.

  5. Anon @5:56 - I can assure you it was not this fit. I had on a variety of my Mark McNairy items including his 8 pocket USN digi camo cargos. It was a wild kit for sure, but I love it - an urban GTH if you will.

  6. I agree with Anonymous. None of it fits right, and none of it looks good together. The pants are too short and tight, not flattering at all. And the jacket's too small. It looks like he closed his eyes and just grabbed what he could find from his smaller roommate's closet.

  8. That double/askew/twisted tie image is simply due to the fact that many European tie-makers don't put a tie-keeper on the back of the ties (or don't sew their labels horizontally, hence the label can't be used as a tie-keeper). This has nothing to do with style, but with carelessness.

  9. Surprising that "Anonymous" agrees with "Anonymous." Who would have thought!

That is complete and utter nonsense. I own more ties that I would ever dare to admit, probably 99% of them various European makes, and not a single one of them lacks a tie-keeper.
The twisted tie may be a bug or a feature, but is rather irrelevant to the overall picture. I am afraid I have to side with the first "Anonymous": Jacket too short and too tight, trousers not fitting well and not an attractive shade of grey. Another example of the Thom Brown-inspired fashion for wannabe-cute "stole it from little brother" styles. Clearly not a style icon for me.
