Sperry Topsiders, oxford button downs, Nike Cortez, varsity jacket, polos, crewnecks, Ray Bans - for a kid that wasn't "Ivy League material" Joel sure had the look down. Don't get it twisted, jean cutoffs are always risky business.
Will there ever be a fall weather look as timeless as shetland-over-OCBD?
Unfortunately for Tom, Rebecca De Mornay is the one rocking the Princeton sweater. Never realized he was reading Architectural Digest before she comes over--hilarious!
Unfortunately this sequence leaves out the ultimate accessory: a champagne-colored Porsche 928.
I'm always impressed with how well things fit in the 80's. It's what made everything so clean and classic. Well, as far as traditional menswear is concerned.
RB was on cable WGN out of Chicago last night! Had to stop and watch. I sat there laughing as Miles looked sick in the back of the 928 as they raced Guido the Killer Pimp.
Wife and daughter #2 just looked at me with this quizical look on their faces. Love it.
surcingle belt is legit
ReplyDeletePhoto 1 sums up what I'm feelin'.
ReplyDeleteWTF gives you freedom...freedom brings opportunity...and opportunity makes your future.
ReplyDeleteMovie debuted the year I turned 16. Still love it.

Anon @9:23- The Porshce in the movie is awesome, but it looked pretty silver.
ReplyDeleteAnd as per the OCBD & Shetland, it would be hard to argue against it.
Jhorts are kind of my thing...
ReplyDeletePlatinmetallik is a kind of sandy color halfway between silver and champagne, I suppose. Love me some phone-dial rims.

ReplyDeleteRebecca De Mornay!
ReplyDeleteToo bad writer/director Paul Brickman only made one other film, the man had style and talent to spare.
ReplyDeleteThat heather gray sport coat... what is it about that sport coat? It's fantastic for some reason.
