A Bunch Of Animals

The year - 1962. The place - Faber College.  The style - tab collars, skinny ties, lots of crew necks and, oh yeah, togas.

  1. Wearing a tab collar shirt today is an excellent way of protesting against sartorial sloppiness masquerading as "style".
It gives one a wonderfully stuffy look that really disturbs the casual brigade.

  2. Well put DU- I wouldn't agree that far but I love a good tab collar. I've been meaning to find this out actually, anyone make 'em these days (outside Savile Row)? I'm so on your wavelength with this one Lawrence, even his "College" sweater is classic!

  4. Don't forget the exquisite fabrics, like Flounder's clip-on: "Ninety-percent rayon! Very nice!"

  5. I'm Glad even crazy college kids show some style, it's just not the same anymore.

  6. I'm sure that Geriatric Trad meant "shirts", rather than "sh*ts".

  7. Anon:

College kids today think they're showing style by following fashion.

  11. Academic Trad- As much as this blog needs another fashion vs. style argument like another hole in its head I have to agree with you.

  12. Dan- Otter is easily one of my personal heroes. The first time I saw Animal House and read that he ended up becoming a gynecologist in the end segment I just about lost my shit.

  14. Otter's sweater in pics 17 and 18 from the top is amazing! It wouldn't surprise me at all if we found this in some F/W line-up.

  15. I actually saw someone a few weeks ago on a subway here in NYC who totally had Professor Jennings' look (Donald Sutherland). While the colors may have been out of season, he was rocking a three piece brown corduroy suit. He actually looked very good. He was a middle-aged African-American guy. Accessorized with a brown briefcase, brown cane, and a brown hat.
