Brooks Brother Extra Slim Fit: A Visual
I've probably talked about the Brooks Brothers extra slim fit shirt around 8 times on Sart Inc, but that's just how much I rep for them. I have a bunch myself and at $79.50 I have found them to be the best shirt at the price point. The fit is spot on and with BB you are getting better quality than say a J.Crew or anyone else who makes shirts at this upper-mid-level range. I'm not sure if you have a Brooks by you or not, but I highly recommend swinging by to make sure you get your sizing right and to see for yourself just how money these shirts are. You can check out all the Trad stylings offered here in both the sport and dress shirting variety. For this time of year I particularly recommend the washed oxfords, which I already mentioned here. ReplyDeleteFor those who'd rather ditch the logo, I recently picked up three of the Supima dress oxfords and agree that these are great shirts. BB finally getting it right.

ReplyDeleteI am 5'10" and about 160 pounds. I am not really a big guy. I went and tried on this shirt and it fit perfectly at the neck, shoulders, and sleeves. But the buttons were literally bursting apart across my chest.

ReplyDeleteNicholas- I have to disagree with you. I have a decent sized chest and 32 inch waist and these work for me. As long as you're not barrel chested you should be good to go.

Maybe your neck and shoulders are bigger so you can size up to a med? I wear a 14.5 neck, which is usually a size S.

Anon- They make extra-slim regular cotton oxfords in the dress shirts section. They come in your standard colors. Those are what I tried. I wasn't a fan of the emblem on the actual sport shirts. I thought the color choice was poor.
ReplyDeleteI have a 46 inch chest and a 33 inch waist. I just ordered one of the extra slim fit dress oxfords the other day. Am I going to be disappointed?
ReplyDeleteAnon - I'm a 38" chest x 27" waist and I ordered a 15x33 regular cotton oxford. I found the bicep and chest areas to be pretty snug, in fact I thought the chest buttons were going to pop off when I inhaled, while the forearm and waist were spot-on. I haven't tried any of the sport shirts (in S,M,L sizing rather than neck x sleeve) so I can't help you there.

For those of you who like these shirts..are there any other brands that have the same type of fit? This is the first off-the-rack shirt at a reasonable price that fits me to a tee. The only other brand that fits as well as the extra slim is Seize Sur Vignt.
ReplyDeleteI find the BB ESF shirts are still too roomy in the back. I am 6'2" with a 33" waist, broad shoulders. Fits me everywhere just fine except the lower back, where it looks like I JUST landed from a sky-dive (deployed parachute)
