Summer In Mantova

I'll be the first to admit that I am not as versed as I would like to be in the sartorial splendor often found overseas.  Luckily for me there are gents like Prepidemic who I can rely on to inform me of all the amazing stuff I am missing.  Luigi Bianchi Mantova, purveyor of fine Italian tailoring, just now popped up on my radar and boy am I happy they did.  While I have no idea how much this stuff costs or where you can even get it, all of S/S 2010 is a goddamn greatest hits collection.  Everything from the patterns to the fabrics to the styling is ridiculously on point.  Just because I may never actually own any of this stuff doesn't mean it can't serve as some serious inspiration.  The use of spread collars alone is enough to convince me that maybe all my button down collars could use a little bit of a breather when the weather warms up.  And don't even get me started on the knit ties, patch pockets and double breasted jackets. Okay, I'll shut up now. Have a look-see...

  2. Open your eyes guys....this stuff is around if you look for it particularly in the major cities like NY. And you don't have to break the bank. I recently picked up a well tailored Italian sportcoat from BB's winter sale....loro piano cashmere, barley corn, half lined, patch pockets (inc breast) for the 500's reduced from $1300.....or there was the almost medieaval looking upper thigh length grey flannel padded stroller coat picked up for half price at a nice little Italian boutique on Madison.....or a couple of great Guy Laroche long scarfs in one of those remaindered Italian clothing stores that dot NYC.....that said this stuff looks great.

  3. Very slick. I feel like I'd go around all day winking and saying "Ciao!" to everyone in one of those jackets.

  5. Brummagem Joe - To try and say that you could get anything close to the cut of one of the coats above at Brooks may be the most ludicrous thing I've read in the blogoshere. Short of Yoox, this stuff is nearly impossible to find in the US for a reasonable price. If you know of a place (that isn't heralded for creating the sack jacket, the world's most ill-fitting piece tailored clothing) that I'm unaware of, I'd love to hear about it.
