When you think of Keds what do you picture? That chick in grade school who ate lunch with her Skip-It? As lonely and sad as that image may be that girl was most likely wearing cooler shoes than you. Keds is one of those iconic brands whose heritage is slept on by a lot of the people who care about that sorta thing. The Royal CVO was originally launched in the mid 1960's as a lifestyle version of the world class Royal basketball shoe - it was known as the Royal Edge back then. The low top canvas sneaker gained prominence over the next two decades serving as a popular shoe for all the alternative sport cats rocking on the east coast. After fading from memory the Royal CVO is back for 45 bones, most likely due to the current interest in similar shoes from Sperry and Vans. What can I say about canvas sneakers that I haven't already? Uh, they're the shit.

Pro Keds will never ever be cool. Why would anyone buy these when Vans or Converse are available?
ReplyDeleteAnon @11:30 - Just tryna put some options out there.
ReplyDeleteUhhh, because they're NOT Vans or Converse. Why not shake things up every once and a while.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you can say they're an unactractive shoe.
The CVO is nice, but I wish we could see more of the Triumph stateside. Super dope model in my opinion. and to mr.anonymous I have been wearing vans and converse for a very long time, but whats wrong with adding more canvas to the closet?
ReplyDeleteThey are not "unactractive"just unnecessary like spelling errors when using computers in 2010.
ReplyDeleteI recently got the red pair ... they're really nice. Which sort of rounds out my collection. White Chucks, blue Vans and red Keds. Why not?
ReplyDeleteSo corny when people point out typos in their retorts. Because of course the internet is graded on spelling and grammar. And the person's typo negates their valid opinion, right? C'mon b.
ReplyDeleteThe color schemes are great and I like how thick the sole is. I'm just not a fan of the black and while stripe. And YES it is corny when people point out spelling errors. C'mon now.
ReplyDeleteI would...will certainly buy the red...
ReplyDeleteYou're right anon, they are not necessary. There should be only one style of canvas shoes available on the planet. Everyone should wear them and be happy. And spell correctly, always.
ReplyDeleteDid I say ever say there should be only one style of canvas shoe available on the planet? I think the low priced canvas shoe territory is covered well by brands that do it much better. Pro Keds has tried to make a come back multiple times, jumping on the trend of the moment and always failed miserably. Remember when Damon Dash was involved?
ReplyDeleteIt'd be top-notch if Keds stepped it up with their men's shoes. They've been pumping out some nice styles for women for some time now... share the love!
ReplyDeleteive never heard of keds- imho they look great. i especially like the champion CVOs. im thinking of either getting the navy ones or the white ones- what do you guys think? which one would be more suited for the summer (more versatile)?
ReplyDeleteI think white and navy go with almost any summer outfit and at $45 you can't go wrong with both.
ReplyDeleteCircular Vamp Oxford
ReplyDeleteConverse All Star. 'Nuf said.
ReplyDeleteFinally getting my first pair. I was wondering if these run true to size? I wear a 9.5 (Mens) in Vans. Thanks!
