Father's Day At Sid Mashburn

Wondering what to get your pops for Father's Day?  Sid Mashburn has some ideas for you.  While it's a bold move to get your dad some white bucks or swim trucks, Sid has some pretty great suggestions here.  If your dad is like mine he likes nice things, but isn't the kind of guy to go out and buy them for himself.  And isn't that the best kind of gift anyway?  The kind someone wouldn't get themselves?  Anyhow, if you live in Atlanta swing by or if you don't give 'em a ring.  Either way, Father's Day at Sid Mashburn is so good you might just have to up your bid on that kid you've been scoping on eBay.

  1. I already ordered my Dad a JPress madras tie. He's a Brooks guy so what's not to like about JPress?

  2. I suspect tears of joy from your father when he receives his Sid Mashburn bucks.

  3. Sid charges $3250 for a wool sport coat. He's a joke.

  4. Digging those swim trunks. I need to get my dad a gift- Bec and I have gotten him way too many clothes though. I need to do something golf-related this year.

  6. To Anon at 11:42pm - if you have ever tried on or seen a Sid Mashburn / Caruso sport coat in person you would re-think your comments. In the sartorial world there is good, better and best. In the automotive world there is Hyundai, Audi, and Ferrari. The sport coats and suits that Sid stocks are the Ferraris (also from Italy I might add). As far as sports coats/suits he admittedly doesn't stock the good and better. So please don't let your ignorance overwhelm you and stop by for a visit... if you read this blog then I know you will be as blown away as I have been every time I stop by for a visit.

  7. A Ferrari's price doesn't include its brand cache obvi. Hyundai's of today are better than hyundais of 4 years ago and much better than ones of 8 years ago. If you have over 3 Gs to spend on a jacket, I've got some magic beans that only cost $2999!

  8. I was actually talking about the Hyundai of today... i.e. 'the good'. My only point... when you witness something in person you often come away with a different opinion. I had your exact opinion of a $3k sport coat prior to trying one on. But I truly understand the difference now and can rationalize the cost.

  9. @DaveC: What's the difference, if you don't mind me asking?

  10. Not at all! So I have the standard Brooks Brothers suit, a Hugo Boss, and a made to measure Tom James suit but this stuff is another level. Sid's suits/sport coats come from southern Italy where it gets extremely hot. The fabric breathes extremely well, feels like a feather when you put it on... but as far as the look and fit it's not frumpy or super casual. The fit and finish is just ridiculous... I turned the coat inside out and it's like hand-made art. That is where I saw the difference from a made in the USA, made to measure suit. The best I can say is that it's like wearing a cloud. Almost as if it would cool you down on a hot day... no wonder the Italians look so freakin money in all those street shots. I'm not doing it justice and I'm sure LAS would have some more sartorially-correct prose to properly explain. But like I told Mike (the guy at Sid's that helps me out) I don't care about the freakin fabric or where you say it comes from this shit is just phat. I also wanted to mention that the patterned sport coats are $3k+ but the navy sport coats are about $1400. Exact same fabric, fit, finish just in a navy. I hope that helps! But definitely stop in at Sid's if you are in Atlanta... all the guys are down to earth and Sid has always been there. I don't care if you are a broke college student (been there!) or have a few grand in disposable income to drop... you will be treated like a gentleman and they will be happy to help with a $3k coat or some $48 Levis.

  11. I'm not into the Italian look, but if it makes you happy you can find Sartorio jackets (they make the SM ones) on eBay all day long for $500 -$700. Save yourself $2500.
