Odds are you've seen a picture of Nick Wooster on the internet. Dude is a mainstay of the streetstyle blogs and it's not hard to see why. Wooster, the Men's Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus Group Services (Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman), is pretty much the definition of a sartorial badass. I see him as a more accessible version of Philip Crangi in that Wooster, while exhibiting the same level of flat out ruggedness, adds tailored pieces and does away with some of Cragi's sartorial frivolity to keep his looks actually wearable. I would surmise that Wooster's diverse look is very much grounded in his equally diverse professional pedigree. Stints at John Bartlett, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein seem to have shaped Wooster's rugged, yet tailored aesthetic. Overall, he serves as a deadly serious example of a dude finding his style sweet spot, straight up killing it on the reg and getting yo' beard game tight.

Ahhh Nick. This man also has tattooed arms from the top of his shoulder to just above cuff sight. Top notch badassery.
ReplyDeleteif by "rugged" you mean "west hollywood queen," you're right, he's rugged all right.
ReplyDeleteLmaO!!! Classic.
DeleteThe camouflage sport coat and tie is great bosh!
ReplyDeleteAnon @5:02- Nick lives in NY...
ReplyDeleteThis GUY is the F*CKING DON!!! Every time I see pictures of this dude he is dress to the ninezzzz!
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY WHAT HE SAID^^^
DeleteExcellent.
ReplyDeleteFYI: the link to this on HTTTGAP is broken and null, just so you know.
CAPTCHA: manho
Man's game.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, seems like he has a thing for broken down sh*t boots instead of proper shoes. It's an ok look for a 20-something, but for the 40/50 something like him it looks clownish.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but personal style is partially about dressing your age not your IQ.
X2
DeleteThose boots are by Cole Haan.. they start at 3bills. The worn down look is how u buy them.
DeleteBut does that make them good?
Deletedoes that make them bad?
DeleteOP is a retard.
DeleteAnon @5:52- Your personal preferences aside I don't think you become the Fashion Director of a major department store by having a low IQ, style or otherwise.
ReplyDeleteThis guy will kick your dad's ass
ReplyDeletewhat shades is he rockin' in the first photo?
ReplyDeleteThose look like Persol shades to me, but I dunno which #.
ReplyDeleteHa! Made a short but sweet post about the same thing just a couple of days ago. Soulmates?
ReplyDeleteBoth Wooster and Crangi have passed the line into being dandies.
ReplyDeleteWuzzat mean? Well, according to one definition of "well-dressed," a well-dressed man is one who looks great in what he's wearing, but 15 minutes after you and he part, you can't remember what he was wearing (or at least not in detail). Will at A Suitable Wardrobe is often just on the side of that line, and so is still well dressed.
On the other hand, Wooster and Crangi dress to make an impression, and by the above definition, are not well dressed.
The gaudy, tacky camouflage jacket (with matching tie? WTF?); the hideous patch jacket; the boots with the suit; the immaculately coifed hair and beard--it's all too precious.
You couldn't pay me to dress like this clown.
YMMV.
With their insistence on rules and understatement, the righteous herd of igents always miss out on both cool and any appreciation for the ridiculous. Of course, the crowd of cubs pawing over him are equally unoriginal.
DeleteThis young gent looks awesome! He appears to have a muscular, thuggish (in a good way) upper-body, and yet still pulls off the Trad look with absolute success.
ReplyDeleteOn a related note, could you ask Mr. Wooster to force my local Neiman Marcus store at Newport Beach, CA, to start stocking Kiton shoes and Barker Black shoes again? I was just ready to pull the trigger on 2-3 pair when they were cruelly snatched away from me.
Anon @6:48- I think the shades are Moscot.
ReplyDeleteDave J- I am positive they are not Persol.
i think this dude is fun to watch. yeh, i mean, he's making it clear that he's put an enormous amount of time into what he's got on, but the attention to detail is pretty impressive.
ReplyDeleteyesss....
ReplyDeleteThe hair. So good.
ReplyDelete1. Philip Crangi will hitherto be refered to as Crangi. Or the Crang. Like Madonna, Prince, Beyonce and the Fonz he has now officially achieved one name status.
ReplyDelete2. Thanks for putting a name on this guy. I'd seen him all over the place but had no idea who/what he is. Cheers mate.
Camo sportscoat...luuuuuv it...I'm so gonna do it...
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck does "a more accessible version of Philip Crangi" even mean?
ReplyDeleteI hear he learned it all from a straight guy in Salina, Kansas. Toto too?!?
ReplyDeleteThat would be Joseph P. Roth Jr.
DeleteLet me tell you, I lived with Woo in college and when I needed something inspiring to wear, I went right to his closet. He of course hated that, but back then necessity was still the mother of invention. Nothing has changed - he was a fashion horse then, and obviously is still. Woo, your look is Money.
ReplyDeleteWoo? I love it! Here in Salina, we just call him plain ole Nicky!
ReplyDeleteNick had style while growing up in a small town and he STILL has taste and can wear anything and look GREAT!!!!
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous June 23 5:52 - The guys is a fashion director.... I assume you're not... when you 're in this industry you breath and eat fashion and that's a must... otherwise you don't know what you're talking about...
ReplyDeleteWhy do people think it's odd to have style and taste after growing up in a small town...
ReplyDelete@ a-murder. That's a good question.
ReplyDeleteWooster is the poster boy of the 21st Century Bear:) Don't get me wrong I think he's a stylish cat. Wooster consistantly has a great look from the ankles up. Call me old guard but I'm not feeling the high water pant with an industrial boot.
ReplyDeleteI realize he's a fashionista but the too tight looking coat and pants reminds me of guys who have put on a few pounds and refuse to buy a size(or two) up in their wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteThom Browne's dad?
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA. Fuck this dude is a joke. Too funny, really. I needed a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteHe could be a metal gear solid character. Like, snakes dad or something.
ReplyDeleteDude's BAWSSSSS
seriously, right?!
DeleteGood Stuff
I just dig your blog and the other about gurl
ReplyDeleteim gonna start following this

Gay, straight, whatever! This guy is a stylish motherfucker!
ReplyDeleteIt's an an eternal truism, but the essence of cool is looking like it's effortless. This guy tries so hard its just painful to look at.
ReplyDeleteHey...I work in the mens industry in NYC and Nick Wooster's look is tight. The knocked up boots with a suit or sportjacket? I do that and it's a great look, mixing rugged with posh. And yeah, he's rocking that great camouflage jacket in his 40's/50's...dude's in better shape than a lot of younger guys so he can do that...looks like an artful man that means business...
ReplyDeleteI assure you the "badassery" is merely a facade. Truth be told, Nick is a bit of a dandy.
ReplyDeleteI am out of the loop. Today I learned that Nick Wooster even existed. But what I can tell you is that it takes guts to go with your vision. He could play it safe, but he doesn't. he plays it right on the edge, and he plays it well. When you can say the same - then you can bitch that he's over the top. But for now he's over the top, as in soaring over the bar and I admire him for that.
ReplyDeleteCheers^^^
Deleteso i wonder who inspired or dare i say copied his style a certain mr beckham, Mr Wooster, you have inspired me and i thought i was cool, and whats all this about his age, what do you lot want, when you get a certain age, do we all have to be put in a pigon hole, and be told how to dress and look
ReplyDeleteHe is just one of those guys who have the taste and confidence to look good every day where most guys don't have the imagination do anything better than fall into yesterday's jeans and tee-shirts. I wish I could do the same
ReplyDeleteOhh who doesn't love some Mr. Wooster on their street style feed! Good post!

I've never heard of Nick Wooster until today; and even then he was referred to in a negative light (ripping on a pretentious bar). I personally think that he dresses as if he's trying to be a modern day Dom Draper. I have no idea how old he is, but looking at him I'd guess 61? Idk, I guess I just don't get the look he's going for :/
