Attn: Cheap As Chino
Not so much a post as a news blast I guess, but J. Crew's on point Lundlow chino sportcoat has just hit the sale rack and can currently be grabbed for $98 (if you're a small don't bother), which is pretty much how much it costs to go grocery shopping at CVS these days. It's not a bad deal at all and is definitely in the conversation for best off the rack chino blazer thanks its trimmed up, modern fit. No need to overthink this at all - crispy white button down, your denim and maybe some penny loafers. Now that's some classic and understated style at its best.

Funny, I did that post on chino jackets and was mulling over my options. Then a commenter pointed toward this jacket and I snapped it up immediately.
ReplyDeleteIt is really nice. I'm around a 42-43" chest. I got a large and it fits well in the chest/shoulders. Sleeves are too long for me, however.
Purchased w/ free shipping (CRW86V), just in case. How tall are you, Tommy?

ReplyDeleteBought it about a month ago (already $98 at my local JC) and LOVE it. Get compliments every time I wear it and it just feels like Summer.

ReplyDeleteI'm waiting on a micro-gingham sport coat I saw in their Spring/Summer video. I'd like something with a little pop.
ReplyDeleteSleeves and body were too long for me in the Clayton (basically same model). Also the fabric is quite thin, it just doesn't feel like a true chino sportcoat to me. I might get the Rugby one, or if I can find the funds, the workwear jacket from Folk that was part of a feature on Secret Forts not too long ago.
ReplyDeleteWould this fit someone in the 6"2-6"3 range? I like it, but I'm afriad it may to be too short in the body.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if there are matching pants for this fabric? Couldn't find 'desert khaki' pants anywhere else on the website.
ReplyDelete@jumpjet if you're a large, there is a mini Glen Plaid version of the same cut available for the same price.
ReplyDelete@anon, a khaki blazer isn't the kind of thing you want to match your pants. try it with dark (or light) jeans, or trousers in grey, navy or brown.

ReplyDeletei would suggest this sportcoat as a neutral separate, dressing down formal pieces and dressing up casual. but your style is your own and i'm sure it would work for you.
Well - i have a brand new SMALL still with tags on if someone wants to pick it up (we can move the discussion to styleforum or something). $115 to your door. That covers the cost of the jacket + chicago tax, and shipping, paypal, etc.
ReplyDeleteThey're actually $80 at the J. Crew near me (Americana Manhasset) and there's a size small for $50 at Roosevelt Field Mall (as of 6 or 7 days ago).
