Club Monaco Fall 2010
Spring 2010 was clean, crisp and Fall 2010 is more of the same. If you like you colors muted and your outfits grounded in gray and navy this gear will be right up your alley. I always find lookbooks from major brands interesting from a purely trend thermometer perspective and off of face value it seems like Club Monaco is still riding along on the rolled pants and Jack Purcells bandwagon - whether this will stay in the public's consciousness is a whole different story. And for anyone keeping track these photos were shot by Ms. Dore.

Just build an online store already, you uppity punks!
ReplyDeleteI don't care much whether everyone is rolling their pants or not, but when every shot for a line's looks has it... it begins to look silly.
ReplyDeleteThat's the first sailor stripe that doesn't look girly. Seriously, most of them look stolen from Coco Chanel's closet, but that dude looks good in it.
ReplyDeleteLonghaired fellow strongly resembles Dan Bejar, or maybe Vincent Gallo. I hope that's a trend for Fall

ReplyDeleteI like club monaco, but you're right its muted and sort of boring. I hope that the rolled look doesn't go out because it actually is cute. damn you CM for riding this dead horse.

Club Monaco has really been good the last few seasons--Timothy Farah counterpoints J Crew in affordable menswear, being cleaner and a bit more Grey Flannel Suit versus J Crew's olives and tans with two days of beard growth--uptown versus downtown, to be a cliche. The in-store offerings seem to still be fairly similar, but recently I've gravitated toward Club Monaco for timeless apparel.

Club Monaco falls slightly above Banana in the dullness department for me.

ReplyDeleteThey are both pretty boring and have a lot of basics.
but BR kind of swings into "trying too hard dad" territory more often than CM.
The Club Monaco brand is all good in concept. I just feel there are better quality just as affordable brands in which to create these looks.

ReplyDeleteLast time I went in there an SA offered me the student discount even though I'm pushing 30. Just saying, flattery never hurts.
Timothy Farah is boring his concepts are based on the ideas of others. Initially he worked with Mr.Spade, Mr. Ford, etc., the just recycles ideas...big deal!!
ReplyDeleteI agree Timothy Farah is not a designer he is a mockery of design. He takes and reconfigures and that is all. He copies...boy what a pity, I feel sorry for Tim!!!
