The J. Crew webstore has a new (at least to me) section entitled "Back By Popular Demand" which will serve as a place to highlight the "perennial" favorites that had previously sold out or "were just too good not to come back for yet another season". It's hard to believe why some of these items are back or have any popular demand associated with them - cough polos cough, but J. Crew is reissuing their ever popular McAllister boots, distressed Jack Purcell's and the Alden waxed Longwing collaboration. If you're a massive fan of J. Crew and had your eye on a specific item that has since been long gone I recommend heading over and checking out what's up for grabs.
As a side note, I kinda wish some of my favorite brands did something similar to this. That way I could have all three styles of Allen Edmonds Mora's and some of the absolutely killer WWM outerwear styles from yesteryear among other things. A kid can dream I guess...

I don't really get the distressed Purcells and Sperrys. Why not save some scratch, buy them new and "distress" them yourself?
ReplyDeleteSick Aldens though.
Um that web belt costs $65??? I could get (counts on fingers) 13 of those for that price at my local Army/Navy Surplus. I hope no one falls for that one.
ReplyDeleteI have those Sperrys...they're not really distressed. They're oiled leather and distress more easily than average Sperrys I guess, but they didn't look particularly vintage out of the box.
yeah I owned and constantly wore a pair of distressed jacks from jcrew a few years back.....I liked them a lot, but it seemed kind of cheap buying something pre distressed and not authentic.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of sneakers, I'm looking for a comfortable pair for the summer. Any suggestions?
Most of this stuff has never sold out, in fact some of it is even in their "The Always List" section, which implies they always have it. So I'm puzzled.
ReplyDeleteWondering how the McAllister boot compares to Clarks, anyone have both?
In the last few weeks, inspired by Sart. Inc. I went on the hunt for desert boots. I tried on Clarks, and the J.Crew McAllisters. I found the McAllisters ill-fitting (they have a very long toe) and kind of sloppy looking, especially for the 40 price difference. I really liked the Clarks, but wanting a dark sandstone/khaki color, the Clarks just didn't do it for me, they were either too dark (and kind of waxed) or too light. I ended up at Land's End Canvas. The color, fit, and price was perfect. I highly recommend Land's End.
ReplyDeleteAnonymoust @ 11:52: I have both; I find the McAllisters run a slight bit bigger. I buy both in the same size.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the Clarks by far though.
Sperrys and Purcells are on sale at Martin and Osa, half off.
ReplyDeleteJCrew has some great stuff, but their casual shoe prices are usually too marked up to make sense and the same things can be found for less elsewhere. Just looking out..
the mcallister has a very flat toe, the clarks have a taller, more rounded toe box
ReplyDeleteThe low profile Jack Purcells J. Crew now sells are the best shoes of all time. So glad these are not just limited to the Varvatos line anymore.
ReplyDeletenice color for Clarks:

LAS, about your side note. I know what you mean. I wish I could have another chance at grabbing some of the past stuff of WWM last seasons collection (Chambray Pen Jacket). It gets to my head often.
