A U.K. heritage brand rediscovers its relevance through a fusion of American prep and streetwear. Still with me? The Duffer of St. George is surely taking an interesting route back into public consciousness, but it's a route that is producing some extremely impressive items. While some of the gear (i.e. polos, tees and hoodies) treads the waters of average-ness, the good stuff is great. Nylon baseball/varsity jacket hybrids, shawl collar zipups and parkas are sprinkled throughout and give the line a serious updated prep punch, while not simply relying on the rehashings of other well known brands The capsule collections (started in F/W 2009 if I am not mistaken) have already found success in both the UK and Japan, with the US market next on Duffer's list of exposure. The summer capsule can currently be previewed and purchased at JD Sports (the firm behind the brand's resurgence) and Scotts.

The shirt at the bottom is a cool piece.
ReplyDeleteWould definitely like to get my hands on the baseball jacket without that big a@@ patch. I wonder if they got any heat from the D-Town tigers on that D monogram though.
ReplyDeleteWhat's happened to Duffer? Have they since closed down?
