Gap's Sunwashed Collection

Even though it's not a trending topic on Twitter (that's reserved for important things like oil spills and Justin Bieber's hair) sunwashed anything and everything is pretty scorching right now. Case in point - Gap's new sunwashed collection.  I find it a little interesting that many of these items have been on sale for a while, but as soon as J. Crew starts referring to things as "sunwashed" or "sun-faded" it suddenly becomes time to keep up with the Joneses.  Honestly, half of this stuff doesn't even look sunwashed though I can appreciate Gap's effort.  If anything it's more of a casual summer basics collection i.e. the entirety of Gap's warm weather offerings since Patrick Robinson took over.  This isn't a place to bitch and moan over semantics so I'll leave you with my favorite of the bunch.  The madras plaid short sleeve button downs are impressive and, if you're the kinda guy who can't seem to sniff out some Gitman Vintage, a much needed alternative.  Hell, if you cop one of these for under 40 bones and get it darted by your tailor you'd probably still be saving some bills.

  1. Perhaps I'll dart it right to your head for posting this lackluster collection. GAP needs work.

  3. Wow, these honestly don't look dissimilar from Gitman...

I know i know, the GItman's fit is better, the materials, the construction.... but are they 4 times better?

  4. What you think of the sunwashed long sleeve? Seems similar to the J. Crew madras shirts...

  5. Ben, I agreed, they are not 4 times better, I almost bought the long sleeve shirt but...as a 40 year old man, I'm embarrassed to run into kids (teens) wearing the same shirt.

It may sound dumb, so rather than having 2-3 Gap shirts, i just buy 1 EG or Gitman shirt.

Off topic, I love buying Gap pants, I take them to my tailor to taper them, then they are so good as any $200 khaki.
