The Double Breasted Blue Blazer Done Right

If there is one item I am seriously lacking in my wardrobe it is the double breasted blue blazer.  As I type this I am working towards remedying this issue in a huge way and if all goes according to plan I will have arguably my best snag ever.  The DB blue blazer has been on my mind a lot recently and I've found myself searching for images of it on and off for the past month or so.  I'm not sure what it is, but the peak lapels, gold buttons, side vents and ticket pockets on a well fitting blazer just do it for me.  When it's done right, the look is one of my favorites.  Thrift one or buy one new, just make sure it's tailored for a dapper yacht and street go between.  I can't afford Bastian, but inspiration comes pretty cheap.

  1. do you have to be tall and superslim to carry it off?

  3. Some of those are interesting, particularly the top two and the one being worn by (it looks like) Chuck Bass, in that the top two buttons are lined up with the other four instead of being spaced out farther as can be seen on some of the other pictures. Seems to be more of a pea coat style. Personally I think that the kind with the buttons spaced out looks more flattering, particularly when only the middle button is buttoned.

Have you considered providing credits for your photos?

  4. KC2608- Anything that is properly tailored to your body type ultimately will look flattering.

Trip- Interesting observations on the two distinct styles and yes that is Ed Westwick filming a scene as Chuck Bass. As for as sourcing images is concerned, I always do it expect for these "photo essay" type things since I'm just straight google-ing images. I guess I could start adding click through links.

  5. "Yeah, just take my luggage up to my room please. What? Oh, sorry, you don't work here. The uh, the blazer... it, uh, threw me off. My apologies. I'll get my bags off your cart. Can I have my five back?"

  8. Navy DB blazers are killer - good call.

A friend that worked on The Row did me a massive mates rates favour 5 years or so back.

Does it get that much wear, probably not.

But the key is when does get an outing it is worth every single penny (I didn't spend).

Some of the pictures above the jackets don't look like they fit quite right. It's a tricky one - too long; old fashioned. Too short; too short.

Finally, that Sart shot 4 down. That fella is a outright disgrace. His clothes don't fit, he's wearing those silly socks (that thank god I wouldn't know where to buy) and his shirt seems to be unfastened like an aging two-bit Fulham yah yah. Anyway, at least he seems cheerful I suppose.

  10. L.A.S, are there any jackets you recommend? In the $300-500 range. I really dig the look.
