Attn: L.L. Bean Signature Pre-Launch

If you like man bags you are in luck as today sees the pre-launch of the L.L. Bean Signature website.  I won't personally be dropping any coin on either of these totes since that's not my thing, but that doesn't mean this isn't kind of a big deal.  L.L. Bean Signature is proving to be an exciting chapter in the history of one of America's greatest brands and I can't wait until the entire collection goes live.  Until that happens in March be sure to head on over to the site to check out the looks of things and maybe pick up a bag or two .

Also, If you enlarge the lead in image and images below you can get a sneak peek at some price points.  The flannel will retail for $69, the jeans $59, the chinos $65 and the field watch $125.  So far so good Mr. Carleton.

[Editor's Note: Laurie from L.L. Bean PR just released these images of the line from next month's GQ. My head just exploded.  Waxed canvas Bean boots? A rugby that screams Bastian? Where do I sign up?]

  1. ok. THIS is the L.L. Bean that Tom Brady would be seen in, right?

  2. Although I'm a Bean purist, I am looking forward to seeing the entire collection. Maybe they will bring back the classic field watch.

  3. I've never owned anything LL Bean (and I know that's blasphemy on this site), but I'm really digging this collection. That flannel looks sweet and the duck boots are on the To Buy List for sure. Quick question though -- What size (8" or 6") boot is the classic version often spoke of and highlighted by you LAS?

  4. Robert,

The original Maine Hunting shoe by L.L. Bean was a 10" or 12" boot. Most bean boots discussed around these parts are probably of the 8" variety. You really can't go wrong with any of the heights as everything from the mocs to the gumshoes to the 8" look fantastic.

  5. Thanks!! I've been leaning towards the 8" as it seems like a good height. Do they fit pretty true?

  6. Robert,

They do not fit true to size. Size down my friend, size down.

  8. I think the people over at J.Crew should be shaking in their (knock-off desert that cost more than the actual Clark's) boots.

  9. Nice, though too bad the tote isn't made in Maine like the classic ones in the main line.

  11. You know I do rock a tote on most days and with the DC bag law now in effect many more people will too, but it's to carry stuff - these totes look more like man-purses than actual bags.
