Attn: Knit Ties On Sale At Macy's

Macy's in house brand, Club Room, is having both an in store and online sale.  When it comes to stuff like this you should be always on the lookout for basics.  And yes, knit ties are a basic.  In fact, I'd go as far to say that a navy knit tie is the most versatile and stylish tie any guy can own.  So onto these ties specifically.  No one is going to front like these are incredible quality or anything of the like, but for $9.99 you really can't complain if you find yourself squarely in need of a tie rack tune up.  Polyester isn't anyone's preferred material for anything (or at least I hope it's not), I get it.  Let's just keep in mind that there are some dude's who are reading this that could use a serious steal or deal right now.  These ties are kinda like a Playboy ceterfold - cheap and fake, yes, but they'll get the job done in a pinch.

  1. It's worth noting that they're out of the black and navy models - and that the remaining colors are...well, questionable, in my book.

But, for ten bucks, who's complaining?

  2. Daniel- Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure they have all these and more in store. And then you don't have to pay for shipping.

  3. Not sure what's worse, my dear fellow, blogging about polyester ties or alluding to masturbation.

  4. Great deal for people who can spend little and lol at people who shun polyester in ties.

Can someone give me a valid reason as to why it's so hated other than being a synthetic material that's cheap to produce? Or am I correct in that it's the only reason?

  5. these are also on the skinnier-side, even for knit ties. I saw them in store and decided to pass, despite the very good price.

  6. Thanks for keeping cash-strapped readers like me in mind. My budget only allows $50/month for clothes (including shoes!). It's slow going, but tips like these really help. Pair one of these with my $15 JCP oxford, and I'm golden. Or at least brassy.

  7. You can buy them in 100% silk over at The Tie Bar, for $15 plus shipping. They're out of navy at the moment, but always restock the knitted ties.

  8. Copped the navy at a brick and morter this morning after hearing about the sale on your tumblr. They had a decent selection of striped knits in stock as well, not really my style though.

  9. Oh... also wanted to echo what anonymous said above... definitely on the skinny side. Only 2" wide.

The description on Macy's site is pure gold though: "A great alternative to the played-out silk tie."

  10. these have been on clearance at the stores for a while. I picked up a couple back in May for $10 each. Wife got me one for fathers day for $6.

  12. Got one a week ago--navy--at my local for nine bucks. The price is right but I think you get a more than you pay for. Its a f*cking navy tie--I don't need RL purple label. I've never been a guy that thinks J Crew is reasonably priced, for example, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. This is an everyday piece for everyman steeze.

  13. I second Dave's comment. For $5 more, you can get an awesome pure silk knit tie at The Tie Bar. I have 2 of them and they are a steal at fifteen bucks.

  16. The notion the someone would pay $45
(the original price) for a polyester tie is beyond belief.

  17. While the only colors left are the weaker of the bunch, I appreciate this post. Not everyone has a budget that affords them the ability to drop 75 bones on a knit tie, that to the average guy, looks the same as one that costs 10 bucks at Macy's. I love that LAS isn't afraid to endorse this.

  19. @Anon: I STRONGLY disagree with the assertion that you get more than you pay for with these Macy's ties. I say that because I have one of the Club Room joints, a J. Crew joint, and a Ralph Black Label joint. Paid $10 for the first two (got the J. Creezy joint on clearance) and $50 for the Ralph (on sale down from $75). Guess which one looks the best? The Black Label tie looks better, the fabric quality is noticeably better, and it ties a much better knot. Let's ignore the Club Room tie for a sec because it is what it is (a cheap polyester knit) and look at the other two. Both 100% silk, made in Italy, and have comparable full retail prices, but RL has an attention to detail that J. Crew can't touch (in many areas). I was rocking my BL joint and this woman I didn't know IMMEDIATELY asked if she could touch it (she was a cutie pie too... but I digress) because it's s**t people don't see on the regular. Nothing like that has ever happened with my J. Crew or Club Room joint. Club Room = McDonalds, it's cheap and gets the job done. Black Label = Ruth Chris, fly as hell and it might even get you laid. Moral of the story: quality silk knit ties will get you b**ches.

  20. So your Ralph Lauren Black Label tie is equal to a corporate chain steakhouse?

  21. mo' money = mo' quality. No exceptions. obvi.

  22. @anon: I had to pick something that would connote quality to most people. I could have said "The Red Hen" which is a local place that uses all local meats and produce... but you wouldn't have know what I was talking about.
