Attn: Schott Slim Fit Peacoat Restock

Schott NYC is one of the few brands who have the coveted "essential" tag on multiple items. Leather jackets? Check. Peacoats? Check. You get the idea.  They've been doing tough as nails outerwear since 1913 that hasn't changed all that much in the 90 plus years they've been in operation.  Outerwear choices for F/W can seem pretty endless so let me help you narrow it down.  Get Schott's slim fit peacoat.  This 24 oz. melton wool beast will get the job done without sacrificing a single style point.  The jacket has gotten a little bit of a face lift in terms of fit, but otherwise it's more or less the same jacket the servicemen of this country wore when they were battling more than just the elements - 8 button double breasted closure, single vent, wool, cotton lining, metal buttons, front flap and hand warming chest pockets.  You can get it in iconic navy or switch things up with khaki or brown.  Who cares? It's all killer.  For $240 you're getting the one piece of outerwear you absolutely need and it's never going out of style. Ever. That's money well spent.  In anticipation of the upcoming season Schott has restocked most sizes so put your finger on the trigger.  Yes, it's made in Canada, but I don't want to hear any bitching - I've got friends up there.  Hey Fred, thanks for the pic.

  2. LAS - what's your opinion? I'm on the market to get something, but can't decide between a duffle coat, peacoat, or overcoat. I kind of suspect that while duffle coats and peacoats look better, at least for now, they're a bit trendier. If you could only buy one, which would you invest in? Note that in SF style terms, I lean towards MC and a bit away from SWD, though not completely.

  3. I've never thought about wearing a pea coat. This has changed me slightly. I'm still afraid of more than one breast. I like the heather grey the bestest.

  4. Hmmm. Made in Canada. Points on my end. We know cold better than you, sorry. You know basketball better than us, much to our collective chagrin.

Also, it's strange how I look for stuff made in Canada, but find it much easier in the US for some reason. RL seems to have multiple Canadian factories, Old Navy too. I have never found a single piece in Canadian Old Navy Stores made domestically.

  5. It's a beautiful peacoat, but the last picture doesn't make sense.

It's so cold that he has to wear a peacoat, but his ankles without any socks are okay?

  6. Not a big fan of that 8-button, I'm more of a 6-button kinda guy. But the fit looks great.

  7. I've had my eye on the Wool Car Coat in plaid, but I can't decide if the plaid actually works. Thoughts? http://www.schottnyc.com/products/lifestyle/street/mens-wool-car-coat-in.htm

  8. It looks cool but I have a few issues with this particular model:

-No chest sizes available like with the original. It's only S,M,L, etc.

    -No long version.

-24oz. wool instead of 32oz. like on the original (it gets friggen cold in Chicago).

  11. So this is 24 oz as opposed to the original 32 oz, right? I don't really know how much of a difference it makes but do you think it's warm enough for wearing in the dead of Minnesota winter?

  12. @anon from Minnesota: dude you might just want to stick to down filled coats for MN winters...

  13. MN winters require layering just like VT winters do so really this coat is money because you can throw on more crispy gear(waffle thermals/flannel) underneath and not be too hot. Layering is the truest measure of how legit your wardrobe is and how on point your fashion sense is.

  14. There could be ONE day in the year when a peacoat could be worn. Right now, I'm wishin' it could be tomorrow. I have a real Navy gem from my brother-in-laws Navy bag. Heavy and warm!

    Nice post... keep 'em coming.

  15. First winter coat I bought in NYC. Bulletproof. Although, I think the fit of the Classic 740 is spot on and forty bucks cheaper. Just cop the right size and you'll be in business.

  16. If it's cold enough to wear a peacoat it's surely cold enough to wear socks. This is not Miami Vice!

  18. I'm sorry, there's only one peacoat, the military version. I went to my local surplus store and they had them, brand new, very dark, blue/black, no labels, just military issue. I tried one on in my size, 38 and it fit like a glove, felt tailored even. Best part, it was less that a Franklin.

  19. Agree with anonymous - the military issue ones are legit. I've had the same one for 15 years - since high school - and it still looks fresh out the box.

  20. Nice style
but i agree with run and anonymous military version is the best,
sometimes a small customization is good as the BKc did remember?

  21. These are too long for my taste, I'd prefer six buttons. But while we're on the subject of pea coats, would you approve of wearing a nice grey hoodie, such as this one, underneath? Or does this seem too trendy and affected? Which is something I make a point to avoid, but I think this is more of a classic look and one that I've grown quite fond of.
