Antenna Mag gave us the first look a little over a month ago and now a much more in depth look at Gant Rugger's S/S 2011 collection has hit the interwebs thanks to Culture Shoq. There are a ton of different aesthetics at work here, from Rugger's established preppiness to 80's athletic gear, all the way down to European hitchhiker. It's one of Chris' most eclectic collections to date, which is to be expected from a designer whose brand is clearly hitting its stride. Now that Rugger has established itself as one of the major players at its desired pricepoint, Chris seems to have been afforded the opportunity to take things to a new level - in this case, one of varying styles. Despite the fact that there is a lot going on, the unifying themes of bright colors and an overall lightness keep things on the same page. I especially dig the knits and outerwear and a few of these pieces actually look like year round options from where I'm sitting. It's a job well done, as per usual, from the entire Gant Rugger team and I'm definitely looking forward to checking everything out at the Bleeker St. store when it drops.

I am liking those sportcoats.
ReplyDeleteJ.P. - I'm pretty sure most of them are completely unlined aka incredible.
ReplyDeleteDoes the new stuff still have the fake "Union Made" stamp on the shirt bottoms? 'Cause they're not union made, they're made overseas, and as a union member I find that insulting. In fact I tossed the shirt in the garbage when I noticed it. Too bad, it was an excellent shirt.
ReplyDeleteThose little scarves are right up Lawrence's alley.
ReplyDeleteTaylor- I'm not big on the S/S scarf. Bandannas, in the right context, get a little play, but not much. Thanks for thinking of me though.
ReplyDeleteTrue say. I sort of feel like this collection is "that dope-on-dope, smoke but don't choke on. It's the shit, clearly blunt junkies have been known to croak. Unless them toke of it's, THE BOOOOOOMB!"
ReplyDeleteI've seen this all in real life and let me tell these oddly styled photos do not do the line justice. The actual product will knock you on your ass.
ReplyDeleteI love the jeans with the fuller leg. Nice to see that not everything has to be super skinny.
ReplyDeleteBig fan of all things Gant. This looks great!

ReplyDeleteGood news, you don't have to toss anymore shirts.
The Union Made stamp used is a replica of the one that has been on the shirts since 1949.
But, you're right, it shouldn't be there if it ain't made in the US by union workers.
I've been a bit ambivalent about it too, reading blogs like this and keeping an ear to the ground really helps us do better and get our shit together.
Stamp is gone starting from Spring 11 and onwards.
