First Look: Ovadia & Sons F/W 2011

After all the Tumblr previews and all the hype, I am proud to present to you guys the F/W 2011 collection from my friends the Ovadia brothers.  These guys have a big year ahead and I absolutely cannot wait for the menswear domination that is surely going to ensue.  Enjoy.

    Great clothes, I went to the SS11 Presentation and was amazed by what they put together and how down to earth they were. Made in Brooklyn as well, can't get any better than that for their price points.

    I think the jackets length looks good. With slim suiting comes a shorter jacket. It makes the proportions stand out to the eye. This isn't the 70s my friend.

    I saw this post early today and didn't want to post a reply in haste.

    What these boys put out here is something very, very special (and I rarely use words twice in a row). Pick apart each piece and see for yourself.

    Given the "Made in USA" and the fabric they offer, I am surprised the price is not much higher. There are labels using sh*t fabric and selling shirts for 150-200 a piece.

    Anonymous @ 6:33 - that is because the people who choose the designers think they know what they are doing. They need to get the customers feedback.

    Ovadia & Sons is going to take over. It's starting now..

    The fedoras are one of the best parts.

    Looks like very nice material, but typical fashion show nonsense. I hope that the merchandise is nicer than the photo shoot.

    Fifth from the top....the detail on the back of the blazer...whatever it's called....it's straight outta boardwalk empire (1920's)....and without question the coolest ish around. jcrew will be doing that in less than 12 months.

    Looks great, I agree with R.A though and think the jackets are a bit small length wise on the models. It's similar to early TB, short short jacket and natural waist. Very "grown up" I dig it a lot. You can tell it's not Italian which I think is great. It's not better than Italian but I'm just happy there is other stuff out there.

    This does rule. The jackets look slightly short on the models but its usually the case in most lookbooks.

    The thing I love best is that this collection encompasses all styles. It's fresh, super versatile and wearable.

    j kirk - I'm feeling a little bit of an English, Italian and American blend. Nice balance.

    I just ordered their plaid shirt and navy gingham, lets see how it fits.

    The style is great. It's unique, but subtly so. People are right, though, the jackets are a little short.

    Sorry, I'll pass. High water pants, too-high lapel peaks and notches, too-high coat tails ... it's like 70's Ralph Lauren meets Thom Browne. If it's to your taste, great, but it's not for me.

    It's amazing how much Sart Inc. has turned into an Italian dick sucking fest. I can remember when even the banner on this site was relevant to the author's American design aesthetic. Lawrence should probably replace the banner to a picture of Brunello taking it up the pooper.

    I would wear- for the most part, all of these pieces. I usually only shop at Paul Stuart yet some of this is better and fresher. You will hear from me when i try one of their suits.

    Gorgeous collection. Ovadia, you guys did it.

    I'm thinking this: Put Blue/Purple Label, Paul Stuart, Savile Row in a blender. Add a youthful take with modern fit and you get this very particular aesthetic of highly wearable clothing. Something for everyone.

    Kids, take it from me. I've been in this monkey business 35 years.

    Love the looks overall, but am I the only person who thinks the trousers are a bit tight? In the windowpane suit for example, where the guy is holding gloves... And the pants with the camel DB jacket...

    I don't know...most of the pieces look nice and the styling is spot on but if you ask me the choice of fits on several of the models is just wrong...clothes seem too small for the person wearing them and as a result the models look uncomfortable and unnatural. It's hard to look dapper when it appears one would move like a robot...if I'm wrong, then I would definitely like to see these looks in motion.

    I think the angle of the camera is too low for these shots and makes it a slightly awkward view. (I'm a fashion photographer)
    The clothing is spectacular and the styling is definitely spot on.

    This collection is ACE! Why isn't this being covered by GQ??? Seriously! The cut of the pants is amazing as well as their designs and colors. I doubt I will able to afford any of this stuff but I sure can try to copy the looks lol Thanks for posting.

    I hope the price points are really as appealing as people say (what are their prices, btw?) because I see nothing here that isn't already available from existing labels - Bastian, Zegna RL - and much of it looks like private labels done by luxury dept stores - namely Saks + Barneys - worn too tightly (guy in the Glen Plaid is 2 steps from hulking thru those pants).

    An ultra-luxe, sportswear start-up, with a line so extensive, from 2 dudes with little to no fashion/retail experience is a risky endeavor, no matter how much VC their Dad is willing to pour in. It's nice stuff, so it's cheap enough I hope they succeed, but I don't see the niche they felt needed filling...

    Also, I understand that their Dad owns a sizable childrenswear biz and they learned at his knee and blah blah, but in every profile/interview with these kids, they have yet to cite any real design, let alone distro and business, experience, that are the real nitty gritty of fashion. I still don't get it.

    I met the Ovadia twins a few months ago at a hotel bar in the city. They told me a little about their story. I

    I think they're like 27, 28 and have been working in the clothing industry when they were still in high school. Thats a lot of years.

    You can't just wake up one day and know how to design and put this together. This is brilliant and if you're going to overthink it, you're silly.

    Anonymous @ 3pm: I've worked at high end mens retail stores here in the city. For made in the US the prices are quite reasonable. Far less than same "designer" names made here.

    Their online store has shirts starting at 125. (ovadiaandsons.com/shop)

    Besides, a handmade in the USA suit is going to be the price of a handmade in the USA suit.
