Heritage Wrists

No one could ever convince me to switch out my NATO straps, but I can only speak for myself.  For those of you looking to give your current watch straps a break after a long summer, J. Crew has just released some cotton watch straps geared for F/W.  By offering olive green, chambray and railroad stripe straps they are surely tapping deep into the heritage well to snag every last drop.  What isn't exactly my cup of tea may very well be your holy grail so if this interests you, buy them here for 20 bucks a pop - wax not included.  I would surmise a strap like this probably looks best with a vintage or vintage inspired field watch.  Don't worry, you can buy those at J. Crew too.

  2. David- My interns really start slacking as the weekend draws near.

  3. Lawrence-- Feed em'. Cheez -its and diet DP.

  4. I don't mind the olive green... but the chambray and railroad stripe... uh? not so much.

  5. Take them out to Olive Garden for lunch. I heard it helps focus.

  6. Anon--that's definitely a good look, or not. Depending on how you at it.

Do they still offer the early bird special on Tuesdays?

  7. I actually ate there for lunch today. I had the seafood brodetto. My stomach has been gargling for the last half-hour. The crispy bread was perfect touch for dipping. I guess that's a plus...

They really should offer Maalox in the washrooms there, though. It sounds like I'm not the only one suffering with unbearable indigestion.

  8. I don't remember them ever having an early bird special. Hmm...

It's a shame they aren't in Canada anymore. I enjoyed the capellini the last time I was visiting in the US. I didn't have any problems digesting the food either. I guess everyone's body reacts differently.

  9. I feel like everyone who has lived in Ohio has endured a brief stint at the Olive Garden. It some ways it's sort of like Cheers--everybody knows your name! Okay, maybe not. But you get point.

PS- I dig the chambray watch strap, also.

  10. Yeah, I don't remember an early bird special either. I used to work at the Colorado Springs location years ago. Surprisingly good tips.

  11. Does anyone else find dessert after a heavy Italian meal to be a bit much? It would explain why half of America is overweight, though.

  12. I find it surprising that people would tip at a place with free breadsticks.

btw- stay away from the Capellini di Mare. it freaking tore me up!

  13. I eat at the Clovis, CA location all the time. However, I rarely order any pasta dishes. Instead I usually opt for a pork or beef entree. The Pork Milanese is unreal, and is also pretty nutritious -- for a chain restaurant.

I agree with Anon @ 4:28. Unless you're a football player, who would have the appetite to chow down on a cheesecake after a heavy meal? Ridiculous!

  14. There's an early bird special?!!?!

  15. does L.A.S. get an email with every comment? man, thats a lot of OG up on here.

  16. The ironic thing is that the J. Crew closest to me in front of an Olive Garden. Irony at its best.

  17. I remember years ago asking the waiter if they had tiramisu and he just looked at me as if I was speaking Chinese. Clearly fake Italian restaurants have no idea what classic Italian desserts are.

  18. I'm not even sure if ALL Olive Garden locations offer unlimited salad and bread anymore. I noticed that the last time I went. It's probably a state-by-state decision. Anyone have the 411 on that?

  19. 10 bucks says Lawrence hits an Olive Garden tonight in Jersey.

    ReplyDelete
  20. ill take that bet.

  21. Vik - The Lakeland, FL location still has unlimited salad and bread. In fact, I'm pretty sure all the Orlando, FL locations do.

Lawrence - You really should hit up the Olive Garden PR people. This might be another avenue for you to explore.

  22. I actually think some of the locations do offer an early bird special. If you're concerned, I would just call ahead of time to find out. There is something comforting eating amongst a sea of geriatrics.

  23. About two months ago, I had undergone a devastating breakup with my ex. On the drive back to Memphis, I debated whether or not I was going to head back to try and reconcile. Fortunately, before I turned the wheels around, I noticed a local service station and some food chains off of the highway. I decided to pull over, mostly to collect my thoughts. While there, I figured I could use a drink (even if it was just one) so I popped into the bar area of a Chili's. However, due to the noise and atmosphere, I decided to venture across the street to a little neighborhood joint: Olive Garden.

After drowning my sorrows in a chianti three meat pasta dish, and washing it down with some Moscato, I noticed that the woman who was sitting directly across from me was checking me out (or so I thought). So, in my desperate state of affairs, I approached her only to be confronted by her burly father, who grabbed me by the shoulder and asked his daughter if I was harassing her. I figured she would have stood up for me, considering she made the first contact, but this was not the case. Needless to say, I was politely asked to leave the restaurant after paying for my dinner.

On my way back to my car, I noticed that I had a missed call and a message on my cell . As I proceeded to check the message, I was pleasantly reminded that the girl that had just been checking me out was actually a friend of my ex's, who recognized my face from a facebook picture and told her what I did. I still have not spoken to my ex since.

While this was one of the worst experiences of my life, I will always remember that first bite of warm, saucy penne going down my throat. Absolutely delicious!

  24. I disagree with Anon @ 4:28 and Andy. If you split the dessert (sorry for using the word spilt, Billy!) you should be fine.

  25. It comes as no surprise that the readers of Sartorially Inclined care to debate the merits of a shitty chain restaurant. Although I am surprised no one is inquiring about a pasta sale. Clowns.

  26. Anon 9:10: You don't even know man, check GiltMan before you take such a condescendingly negative stance. Olive Garden is putting up a ton of their S/S plates of Seafood Brodetto, Parmesan Crusted Bistecca and Capellini di Mare on Gilt next Tuesday.
Check yourself hater and if you're lucky you might cop a crispy plate of dispepsia on the cheap.

  27. FINALLY someone here is funny. Of course it's not L.A.S who most likely has to eat at Olive Garden due to lack of choices in whatever shit suburb he resides in.

  28. I love how no matter what the discussion, Lawrence is always berated. The funny thing is the above comment is probably coming from some goon who lives in his parent's basement.

  29. WTF is with all the Olive Garden talk? Clowns, get a life.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anon 11:40: Lemme get this straight-- you are getting upset over the comments straying off topic and getting a bit goofy... this upsets you enough to post on it... and yet you claim others should get a life?!
You should maybe take a long hard look in the mirror, or just relax with a delicious Warm Apple Crostata dessert from the Olive Garden. That rich vanilla cream and caramelized almond biscotti crumble just may be able to pry the stick from your backside.

  31. Steve -

The only basement I go into is your parents to fuck your mother.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @anon 1:08 dude-really? we need to go there?

    ReplyDelete
  33. That dude who claims to fuck Steve's mom in her basement really should just chill out and try one of Olive Garden's Triple Chocolate Strata Tortas. That dark chocolate ganache topping can calm even the most cranky of mom humping trolls.

  34. Back to the watchbands, I'm not so sure about them for myself, but I think my girlfriend would really like the railroad stripe one. I did however pick up the timex 1600 watch, I really like it a lot. I know $200 is steep for a timex, but I've been to every target around and haven't seen a watch nearly this nice. I especially like it with the Bali blue nylon watchband.

  35. Thanks for the tip on the Triple Chocolate Strata Tortas! I get super hungry after porking Steve's Mom.

  36. The Warm Apple Crostata is definitely a crowd pleaser. No doubt.

  37. I think I died of laughing at the comments. Clearly one person under common names of Steve, Billy, Rob, Chris, Peter has way too much time in their hands & posting their sick obsession with Olive Garden.
Best shit on the internet since Kanye joined twitter.

  38. Did McNairy design the uniforms for Olive Garden? I am lost here.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I doubt they would let McNairy touch there most coveted designs. He would probably just add a red brick sole to the piping hot skillets, anyway. So '90s.

  40. It would be the same plate of food, just with different colored shoe laces and grommets.

  41. to be on topic, i dig that straps. not so much the J Crew Timex watches though. 150? No, thanks. Might as well get a Seiko 5
