Allen Edmonds Bayfield

September 15th sees the re-release of Allen Edmonds' popular 1990's boot the Bayfield.  If the boot does look familiar it's most likely because the boot was first designed to be worn by all the male, first class passengers in a little indie movie called Titanic - sorry, never heard of it.  Notice the mini lug sole, utilized in this case to keep the balance between rugged and classy.  A sole like this is great if you're looking for a boot that can stand up to the elements, but also not look completely out of place in the office.  The cap toe style works extremely well, especially with the brown chromexcel leather, and plays a big factor in dressing up the boot as well.  Best of all, the Bayfield has 4 speed eyelets, which come in real handy.  If you've ever owned a 6" and up boot like this you know exactly what I'm talking about.

  1. I hear the same guy who directed that little Titanic movie has another hidden gem that has pretty much flown under most peoples' radar. Can't remember the name, but know it has Giovanni Ribisi in it.

Boots look nice. Too bad Toronto would destroy these them mentally, physically, emotionally.

  4. It's kind of fun to see the AE "haters" come out of the woodwork. You may not care for all their styles, but if you're looking for a longwing, captoe oxford or a walnut calfskin brogue (Strand in walnut), you could do a lot worse than AE. It's all about whether you are interested in fashion or style and most of the real douches can't tell the difference...

  5. Neither of these exist in a pair of AE shoes/boots. Try again.

  7. Do tell: Head to toe. What is an example of a stylish or fashionable outfit.

  8. The styling is restrained, which I like. And the tread says the boot was meant to be worn in winter weather. As a satisfied owner of Allen Edmonds shoes, I'll give this a serious look.

  9. I'm a huge AE fan, most haters are all about stylish new hypebeast type gear versus the classic American iconic brands that helped establish the style those newer brands often mimic.

Not that there's anything wrong with the new stuff, I like it just as much as anyone else, just saying there's no need to knock the old dogs because they are still very much in the hunt.

  11. AEs always look better in person than in their pics. For whatever reason, AE's product photography never show their shoes in their best light.

  12. I love the older style AE shoes, not what the new owners have done to the company. Having said that, these boots are in a last that works for me, look great, are on sale right now and I just ordered a pair that are going to be made for me....what could be better?
