I'm not sure how many of you guys consider yourselves southern frat style scholars, but this video of the DKE house at LSU circa 1980-something is important research material. It's a fun watch in general, whether you were in a fraternity yourself or not, and it's cool to see southern prep in its natural environment. Ironically enough, these guys look much more Risky Business than Animal House - gotta love the 80's.

What a bunch of douchebags
ReplyDeletebourbon-soaked OCBD steez.
ReplyDeleteAnon - you are a loser.
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to make fun of this. It's way too easy.
ReplyDeletePK- Where did you go to school if you don't mind me asking?
ReplyDeleteAnon - sorry you didn't get a bid.
ReplyDeleteWhat's great about this video is how little has changed.
LSU fratter, 1980: "If we did it to Japan we can do it to Iran."
LSU fratter, 2011: "If we did it to Japan we can do it to Iran."
I was the only person in my high school class to defect to university above the mason dixon line, but i spent so much time in frat houses in high school (also, lying about my age in high school, apparently) and visiting friends in college that I think scholar is appropriate. DKE is synonymous with "date rape" around where I'm from, so I've never been in one of their houses, but damn if all my guy friends don't look exactly like that (give or take a mustache).
ReplyDeleteHey Kicklighter's still alive...what a shame.
ReplyDeleteNot trying to hate but those of you talking smack about fraternities clearly were not in them. Yea there obnoxious etc. But so much positive comes out of them that I am sorry that you guys missed it. Try to open your minds to some things.
ReplyDelete^ Fuck yah brahstein
ReplyDeleteI was a DKE at Ole Miss. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteGeaux Tigers!!! I love when people tell me that I paid for my friends. They're usually blown away by my response. "Best investment I ever made." I wish that LSU Greek life was as lax now as it was then...
ReplyDeleteBeauxTieTiger
DKEs at Ole Miss are pretty much miserable and embarrassing to the greek community, but I guess that goes for DKEs everywhere...congrats for letting us know you are grade A douche! Hotty Toddy!
ReplyDeleteepic
ReplyDeleteIf you don't understand that Literary and Secret Societies were the mother and father of chapters such as this, then you don't understand the secondary and tertiary production of fiction. Sometimes the process lies between seamless and intentional. This vid = one of those times. I've served as the House Philosopher of the Zeta Zeta Dekes at LSU for 3 years. The fellow who hired me in '09 from HQ is featured at 00:58. Neal Dachstadter
