Rugby University Duck Boot Tie
My own F/W novelty can now be yours thanks to Rugby's University Duck Boot Tie. Critter anything is always a good time, but when Bean boots are somehow involved it's even better. I can't think of a more appropriate tie for this time of year, especially as I write this very post from a quasi winter wonderland version of Atlanta. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with their loved ones and that we can all take ourselves a little less seriously in the new year.

I'm pretty sure they got the idea of the duck boot tie from your blog. Haha
ReplyDeleteAwesome tie, man.
ReplyDeleteLove the tie but like the southern proper version better
ReplyDeleteBut it's made by Rugby/RL not L.L. Bean? I don't get it....
ReplyDeleteIts actually a picture of the LEC knock-offs.
ReplyDeleteAnon - clothing companies work a year ahead of time so this was probably done before they saw L.A.S' post.
ReplyDeleteAEV - The designers at Rugby like bean boots and thought they'd look cool as a club tie. What's not to get?
No, the designers at Rugby think the design will sell to folks who don't know the difference between the real thing made by L.L. Bean and copies - such as the ones RL and numerous other bands shamelessly produce. Apparently the designers are correct. That's too bad. Is RL planning a polo shirt with a Lacoste croc logo next?
ReplyDeleteAgree with AEV, I'm afraid. This seems like design by numbers.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe RL has a fashion-blog crawling bot program that spits out product specs based on commonly found keywords. . .
Regardless, looks souvenir-grade.
Souvenir-grade, hardly!
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty damn cool to me.
Nice tie when's it going on sale? I agree I prefer the Southern Proper version of the LL Bean boot motif, if i was going to spend the money I'd go SP!
ReplyDeleteAEV - you got it man! The rugby designers are evil corporate scum hell bent on destroying the brands you love!
ReplyDeleteDoes this sound rediculous to anyone but me?
The guy shopping for ties at Rugby in the winter is probably wearing bean boots so to say he doesn't know the difference between a knock off and the real thing is ludicrous. The dressier Rugby customer shops them because its the only place they can currently get things like this for a fair cost/quality ratio. The bean one LAS has is vintage and Carleton is too busy copying RL wool challys ties and making clothing of medicore fit, fabric and design to compete.
I couldn't find this tie on the Rugby website.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Rugby store on Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown. They claim the tie doesn't exist.
?????????????
I like this tie. It is nice enough to be formal but not too formal that it can't be a good casual tie. Rugby is a great sport and the more gear the better.
