Attn: Grenson Online Shop

I'm not sure how many of you guys were patiently waiting for it to launch, but Grenson's online shop is now open for business.  I'm also not sure how many of you guys need a new pair of shit kickers, but this would probably be a good place to start.  Grenson knows how to make both seriously classic and more "forward" footwear so, no matter what you're currently looking for/lusting after, your tastes should be accounted for.

  1. Just as a warning to anyone who cares about the country of origin and is looking to buy a pair of the newer Grenson models, some are made in Asia.

  2. Doesn't look like they ship to the United States...

  3. I emailed customer services and got a response a few days ago. Wanted to see where in the states they have stores that sells Grenson. All "Mandy" said they do supply various areas in the United States. Back to square one, because they are out of my size.

  4. Just like the Clarks site sart linked to recently, they don't ship outside Europe.

Also, what's up with the cheesy upturned toebox? How/why did that become the signifier for "modern?"

  7. How are Grenson's considered "shit kickers"? I always thought they were pretty refined.

  8. Calling refined shoes "shit kickers" is clever. CLEVER!

  9. Love the look, but I would like to find a distro in the U.S. before I make a buy. The Archie "Tan" Vibram Brogue is my favorite of the bunch.

  12. Just ordered the Christian lace-ups in black. I love the site but had to go through Asos for the order for shipping to the US.

I can't wait though! I've tried them on a couple times at Bloomingdales and finally went for it. This will be my first proper shoe.

I was surprised to see after some research how uncharacteristic the Christian is for Grenson. What a wonderful looking boot.

  13. Grenson shoes are no longer made in England. The got rid of the "Rose" and "Masterpiece" collections, which were still made in England. Now, they're mostly made in India. Tom Little bought the company in 2010.

Who knows, he may bring back a few of the English made models.

  15. I've heard before that they, Grenson, don't manufacture their shoes in the UK anymore. Or atleast part of the shoes. If this is true then isn't the information on their website gross deception? It talks about their factory, heritage and all that other bull, but mentions nothing about overseas production.

    Can someone look into this?

Or Grenson employee if you're reading along, fess up.

  16. @someotherstyle

Thank you, yes, I read that. But what I'm saying is that if this is true they're flat out lying to our faces. I mean a brand doesn't have to mention anything about manufacturing on their website but if they do it should be truthful. Doesn't this bother anybody? As far as I know deception is still unlawful.

I would like to point out here that I am in no way against producing overseas and that the quality may very well be of the same level. It's just about honesty.

This particular menswear scene, if I dare call it that, that we all like so much and the new brands and old brands that have managed to get themselves associated with it are more than anything about honesty and authenticity. Be honest about your products and show yourself for who you are and then we as consumers will respect it. Lying may work for the big clothing corporations but in this scene it'll kill you.

  17. I saw a whole collection of these when I visited the Present London shop earlier this year and the photos do not do them justice. And now Grenson online shop is up, this and ROTM are going to destroy my bank account! Great post Lawrence.

  18. I have a pair of Grenson boots that I bought at Nordstrom in Seattle. They are made in England. I bought a pair of Doc Marten's online and they ended up to be Chinese made. that is very irritating! If I am buying shoes from an English company, I expect them to be made by English craftsmen, not third world slave labour.

  19. china and india are not third world countries, get a grip.

  20. @cameosis - it's not about the country. It's about the methods and expertise. Grensons used to be made by hand by highly skilled craftsmen. That isn't the case with their Indian operation. I think they do still make a handful of their higher end shoes in the English factory though.

  21. They get the "Made in England" stamp put on by assembling most of the shoe overseas and just finishing them or soling them in UK.............then you have made in england.
Loakes do the same with their shoes (except 1880 collection which is totally English).
If you want shoes that are totally hand crafted in England, then there are still lots to choose from....Crockett & Jones, Churchs, Cheaney, Trickers, Lobb, Jeffery West etc
