Wednesday Morning Inspiration: Miles Davis and The Cool

[Pictured: John Coltrane and Miles Davis.  Picture courtesy of The Selvedge Yard.]

I came across the picture late last night over at TSY and was completely floored...so much so that it took a little longer than normal to fall asleep.  Everything about this picture is just too cool...the red tint, Coltrane going off on his sax off-set with Davis, in his shades, gingham shirt and natural shoulder suit, looking off at who knows what.  Both of these men are icons and it doesn't take more than a passing glance at this picture to know why.  This may be the best example of effortless, timless style I have seen in a while.  If I can ever look 1/10th this cool I'll know I did something right.  Anyway, here's some great style fodder to get you through the rest of the week.  If this doesn't inspire you, check your pulse.

p.s. The title references this band, and specifically this record.  Check it out.

  1. The '59 Sound made sure I finished those 10 mile jaunts by myself in the January cold of central PA. Thank God for iPods.
