Stumbled Across: Eddie Bauer Case Study
Marcellus Neel's online portfolio contains a pretty neat Eddie Bauer case study that aims to "rebrand the struggling retailer into a masculine, rugged brand." With all the chatter revolving around L.L. Bean Signature and Land's End Canvas, this is an interesting take on "updated brand aesthetic of logos, layouts, and catalogs, as well as exploring possible brand expansions and extensions." Well done Marcellus, well done. For more Eddie Bauer heritage musing check out Brennan's impressive take from a while back.

We Are Animals
Wrangler's new installment in their "We Are Animanls" advertising campaign is entitled "Red" and was developed by Fred & Farid Paris and Jeff Burton. Shirtless youths running around in denim is nothing new (cough Levis' "Go Forth" cough), but these ads still do a great job of tapping into something very primal. The emotion in these new ads bypass the heritage romanticism of the Levis campaign and instead veer into a realm that is all at once animalistic, intense and wild. The use of colored dust and movement is very similar to the spectacular "Wizard Smoke" skate video and methinks these Fred & Farid cats spent sometime in front of Vimeo (and maybe a bong) before thinking all this up. Regardless, everything here looks spectacular and I may just head down to Walmart to pick up a pair before prancing around shirtless and throwing chalk all over Charlotte.

Garbage Truck Minimalism
My Mom is always sending me crazy emails. Whether inspirational stories, terrible jokes or just insane images I usually scan through and laugh to myself about how I have somehow found myself in the middle of some cute mom email chain. An email I received tonight was more of the same, consisting of dollar bill origami, but towards the end of the email there was a series of photos of some guy's apartment that really blew me away.
While this isn't exactly a converted garbage truck, but a UNICAT mobile home, this guy still lives in one of the coolest, minimalist (mobile) homes I have ever seen. I don't normally do posts on design, but this was too rad not to share. Take a look and weep at the fact that this is way cooler than any place you have ever lived.
