Since the Epaulet x Thorogood post below has been well recieved I figured I'd just do a whole post on Thorogood. Red Wings get all the blog love, but that doesn't mean they are your only options. Thorogood Boots are owned by the Weinbrenner Shoe Company out of Wisconsin. Weinbrenner has been making workwear for working folks since 1892 and currently are about 300 employees strong. All their boots are Union made right here in the good ol' U. S. of A and you can read more about the company here. Now on to the boots...
Thorogood's American Heritage collection is full of good looking Red Wing alternatives, though to call them alternatives doesn't do them justice (did you see those 2-tone roofer boots posted at the bottom!?!). These boots are lifestyle ready, but are real-deal workwear at their core (steel toe optional). With familiar silhouettes and heights, Thorogood is putting out seriously wearable and seriously tough stuff. You can buy the boots here (prices trend around the $120 mark, which is much cheaper than Red Wings) and see more pics at The American Heritage Collection website...
p.s. If you're wondering whether these are a lifetime purchase look no further than this picture courtesty of Mr. Jon Gaffney of Gear Patrol.
