Mark McNairy's collaboration with American outerwear juggernaut Spiewak wasn't just a one off for S/S 2011. No, he's back at it for F/W 2011 and recreating Spiewak's classic snorkel parka in his own image. When he told me he was going to do a lookbook featuring only women I was intrigued to say the least. While these jackets are pretty much unisex, I think we can call agree that they look much better on pretty girls. But then again, you can say that about anything, I guess. Whoever did the casting on this one deserves a Nobel prize. For more information on Mark McNairy by Spiewak check out this interview Mark did for Spiewak's website.

Jackets?... what jackets?
ReplyDeleteHaters gonna hate.
ReplyDeleteThey're all white, where's the diversity!
ReplyDeleteAt least you didnt call him Mr. McNairy...
ReplyDeleteThe hard light and hard shadows on the photography look like they were taken with an on-camera pop-up flash. Not very flattering at all. The pieces look nice though. Maybe that hardness is what they were going for. If it is, it didn't flatter the girls or the jackets.
ReplyDeleteagree with yourmomsquirts! nice lookbook though
ReplyDeleteNice collection of jackets you got there, what is the name of the store or website that selling those jackets? I like those feather's on the jacket because they have perfect combination as for winter fall and add a little colors on it for more selection. ^^
ReplyDelete"Recreate"? What's being recreated here? Nothing new or original...just like the rest of his stuff.
ReplyDeleteLooks great. "Anonymous" ( both ) why so negative? The approach, energy and colors / textures are original for parkas ( or do you already have a denim parka? ) And if you're gonna be negative at least be smart and don't contradict yourself. "Pieces look nice" + "it didn't flatter the jackets." Huh?
ReplyDeleteThese are just parkas with brightly colored shells. I suppose that if you are wowed by "just shoes" but in bright colors. . .
ReplyDeleteThe true genius of this approach is that these bold colors are highly trendy. Think that bottle green satin job is going to seem as cool next year? Of course not. Planned obsolescence.
I know this girl. Swear to God. She works at the Stuckeys on I 95 just outside Fayettville, NC. Must be where she meet Mark.
ReplyDeleteWe probably won't be hearing much from Mark for a while. I heard he's going to be serving 2-5 years for embezzlement. Poor bastard.
ReplyDeleteI hope McNairy does time. It would be like the criminals who go in and get saved by the Lord. He'd come out and drop a jailbreak line. Maybe collab with Levis for some prison-issue denim.
ReplyDeleteI like this marketing strategy also. Put some 5/10 jackets on a 10/10 model and upload to the web.
@Anon
ReplyDeleteBro, this isn't planned obsolescence, it's called fashion.
Hey Sart, there's a pretty famous book by Naomi Klein called "No Logos" so you might want to give your podthing a different name.
ReplyDeleteIm sorry to say it but the only thing McNairy is good at is Internet PR. He is blindly followed by style bloggers with more than a hint of you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. I really can not take him at all seriously given the best thing he's ever done is re badge sanders shoes and some of the worst things include the 'iglove' and fux leopard skin 'snood'. I think FW11 WWM shows his lack of substance.
