You know that dream you keep having? The one where you're draped in head to toe Filson, stalking some mighty beast in the Serengeti and/or building a log cabin in Maine. And just as you're about to take a sip of whiskey from your Filson bridle leather flask you wake up beardless and naked. You know that one? Anyway, Hilton's Tent City is currently having a massive Filson sale so you can be one step closer to the manliness of your dreams. They've got everything short of a Filson dog coat (oh wait never mind) 24.5% off until the end of the month as long as you use coupon code "FILM101510". Clothing, accessories, bags, whatever - it's all there. Pay particular attention to the outerwear and bags, which have been Filson's bread and butter since 1897. I think it was a blogger who once said, "If you can dream it you can do it", but I'm not one hundred percent positive.

Was just about to buy a Barbour Beldale, what do you think of the Cover Cloth Field Jacket? Could be a nice replacement...

ReplyDeleteI've got my eye on the 258 briefcase. Dark tan. I need to make it so.
ReplyDeleteThis is good. I thought Filson gear never goes on sale though. Man are they gunna be p.o.'d when they find out about this one.
ReplyDelete@E$:
ReplyDeleteIf you can fill it out, I'd get the Filson cover cloth over Babour anyday. It's boxy though (which will work against you if you don't have the body type for it), but it's lighter and a lot more weather/water resistant than the Filson tin cloth (which is what I've been using).
I've tried the Barbour bedale jacket a couple of times but could never bring myself to buy it (price was a big factor and honestly, it felt "flimsy" compared to Filson's material).
Don't know how other's feel about this, but I'm a diehard Filson guy. Their stuff is just made to last. Also (little known fact), if you send a Filson garment in for repair, and they're not able to fix it, Filson will simply replace it. Lifetime guarantee.
@Anonymous:
Usually, licensed merchants have to get Filson's approval before they put any of their merchandise on sale, which was kind of surprising.
@Jim, Im on the slimmer side but ordered it anyways as the price was right. Hopefully it will work out. Hilton has a good return policy if it doesnt.
ReplyDeletegot lucky at a yard sale and picked up a filson 256 for $12!!
ReplyDeleteSuggestions on decent women's fashion blogs? Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteI live near Hilton's, they had a storewide 25% off everything sale just before Labor Day (unadvertised, as far as I know). I got a Filson Weekender (style #1442) for about $195. Was able to wear it for the first time last Friday (rain, 50 degrees) and I love it.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting their coats to run on the big side, based on how they are described on their site, but I had to get an XL to fit properly in the shoulders and chest. I wear a 44 suit, and most of my outerwear is size L.
Also, L.A.S, just FYI: dog coats might seem silly, but I have a greyhound, and they get colder more quickly than other breeds because they have little body fat and very short fur, so she needs to wear a coat when it gets below about 40 degrees.
Just got a med duffle and waiting on a zippered tote to come in- needless to say I'm pretty happy I didn't end up finding either of those on there lol
ReplyDeleteI just bought a 256 and it appears the sale is only 15% off their standard pricing. Since that pricing is already below market value, I assume the additional 9.5% is baked into total.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide whether buying a 257 that matches my Pullman is a good or bad idea. Please advise. They'll probably end up together on a plane at some point, which is why I'm contemplating the matching.
ReplyDeleteFilson designs and constructs its bags to be hard working, long lasting, and durable. They are classic and timeless style pieces that look even better the more they are used.
