Tommy Hilfiger Tailored Collection F/W 2010

Last month Tommy Hilfiger told the New York Times that he wanted his style back.  I can't say I blame him.  Over the years Hilfiger's brand has lost a lot of the initial style that made it great and shot the designer to international stardom.  With the recent sale of Tommy Hilfiger to clothing conglomerate Phillips-Van Heusen there seems to be a new lease on life for both the designer and his brand.  By brinbing in some outside help in the form of designer Peter Som, Mr. Hilfiger is reinventing his clothes while sticking to the things he does well - Americana and prep.  The tailored collection for F/W 2010 is extremely strong and, as far as I am concerned, taking things in the right direction.  It's a masculine collection focused on the core pieces that make up the bulk of an American guy's working week wardrobe - it's a timeless tailored selection.  GQ previewed the collection a little while back and I am extremely impressed after seeing the entire thing.  Be on the lookout for the affordable (suits will be under $500) Tailored Collection at Macy's in the coming months.  How Tommy got his groove back...

  3. All those dudes look like they are wearing football pads under their jackets. Quintessentially Tommy, Quintessentially terrible.

  4. Decent clothes at Macy's? I bet it's been a while since that happened. A lot of this collection still looks a little boxy, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. I'll admit that toggle coat looks sharp!

  5. I never was a fan of Tommy Hillfiger. To this day I'm still trying to erase the images from the 90's lol However I did see a preview of this line in GQ I believe two months ago and it is amaaazing. The tailoring looks spot on and the Plaid Jacket is a must have in my closet! Damn this looks chic!

  6. Tommy has been pretty strong in the previous couple seasons. I buy my son stuff from him because its fairly priced and easy to find (the kid grows out of his shit in 5 months). Good shit!

  9. Not bad at all. I actually was on the hunt for a quality pair of navy chino shorts (that were not frayed, faded, fringed, dip-dyed, embroidered, painted, pleated, or cut offs) and after no such luck wandered into a local Hilfiger shop not expecting much. Behold, there they were! After almost a 15 yr hiatus from even looking at a piece of TH clothing it was a breath of fresh air. I hope the brand can regain it's footing in menswear successfully.

  11. TH is looking great, I just wish their sport shirts would have some freaking box pleats. However for the quality it is not so great, same price will get you a BB button down.
