Florence National Guard

From field jackets to cargos to aviators to camo, military inspired gear seemed to be having quite a moment at this spring's Pitti Uomo.  While you can always examine the booths for what's trending it's also interesting to pay attention to what the actual tastemakers/buyers/guests are rocking to the tradeshow.  Some of these looks are definitely not for everyone, but it's cool to see how all these guys incorporate certain aspects of classic military styling into their outfits - from the simple (i.e. a pair of shades) to the extremely complicated aka not safe for work (i.e. a camo pattern blazer).

  1. You might want to take it easy on all the Italian steeze. I'm down but the Americana set will flee this place like McNairy left J. Press

  2. I don't want to tell you how to run your blog, but you know...camo pattern cargo shorts="classic and understated"? Should I also stock up on Ed Hardy graphic tees, Crocs, and flip flops? It's kind of irritating when something is the height of bad taste until suddenly the fashion industry decides that it's not.

  3. Anon @5:02- I figured someone was going to do the whole "classic and understated, really bro?" comment on this one so it's all good.

I post so much over here that not everything is going to fall under the massive, but still kinda limited umbrella of "classic and understated". If you read the copy of this post you'll see that I'm not so much endorsing this as I am "reporting on it".

Do I wear camo cargo shorts? No, I do not. Do I own slim cargo pants? Yes, they are the shit. Do you own a pair of aviators? Quite possibly. Military style IS classic and while some gear is absolutely OVERSTATED there is no reason why it should be completely ignored.
