The Image Of Tailored Perfection

This just in: Mister Crew has posted some navy sportcoat images from the Japanese magazine Men's Ex - one of which happens to be the Sart Inc image of tailored perfection. Six button double breasted blue blazer, check. Gray trousers with the perfect cuff, check. Spread collar, check.  Twisted tie, check. Double monkstraps, check.  I'll be damned if this isn't the way I dress in my head. Actually, I have most of these items in spring ready fabrics so I will try my hand at this shortly. And, before I forget, who wants to hook a brother up with subscription to Men's Ex?

Lusting After: Southern Proper Bean Boot Neckwear

Seen over at Dreams of Perfection these new ties and bows from Southern Proper are serious lust worthy due to the fact they aren't yet available for purchase and happen to feature the Sart Inc "mascot" plastered all over them.  I'm not sure when this collection, dubbed "Town & Country", will be available, but you can bet your ass that come fall you'll be able to catch me with one of these tied around my neck and Bean boots on my feet (you most likely knew half of that already).  You would think that after the purchase of many a pair my Bean boot habit would be under control - well you thought wrong.  Hell, it's tough to even make out the exact pattern on the ties and yet I'm already sold.  Blame rampant consumerism. Blame an unhealthy fixation. Blame whatever you want. I guess it comes down to wearing your influences on your sleeve or your neck for that matter.

Jake Davis Test Shots: Jeremy Kirkland

Jeremy is a business partner of mine and more importantly a good friend.  He was recently featured in Jake Davis' Test Shots series and I thought it would be nice to give him the shine he deserves.  If I made a list of the best dressed people I know JK would easily find himself at the top no question.  Here he is channeling his patented style of urban prep, rocking brands from J. Press to Mark McNairy to Adidas with the kind of ease only developed by paying your dues at Smoothie King and living on the mean streets of Harlem.  This also more than makes up for that shot that was supposed to be on The Sartorialist, but got yanked due to "lighting" - you messed up Scott, you messed up big time.

1901

As familiar as I am with Nordstom's in house 1901 brand (I'm not gonna front like that place wasn't my fashion Mecca for a while back in the day) I am kinda surprised I haven't posted on it sooner.  While the 1901 garments leave a whole lot to be desired in terms of fit and style, the shoes are pretty on point.  It's nothing crazy, just a few classic styles for under $100.  As far as S/S goes they have a few of the cornerstones to a footwear game done right - a buck, saddle and driver.  For the guy on a fairly strict budget the 1901 stuff is actually a pretty good deal.  It also seems fitting I talk about this now because apparently these guys drew the biggest crown at Coachella or so I hear.

Debate: Jack Goes Sailing

The classic white sneaker has gone through quite a few facelifts in its storied existence and the Jack Purcell is no stranger to this.  Its latest reincarnation comes in the form of a boatshoe now available from Converse for $70.  The debate aspect of all this obviously comes from the fact that I am on the fence about these.  Part of me thinks the JP should not be messed with, but at the same time I think this could also be a pretty sweet alternative to, say, a pair of Sperry Bahamas or Seamates (a whole different debate in itself).  I have no idea how much boating Jack actually did in his lifetime so can't say for sure how he would feel about the most recent addition to his footwear canon.  Should Jack go sailing or keep his feet dry?

5 Panels

All weekend Jeremy was rocking a 5 panel Supreme cap with serious ease and making it look money.  I'm not sure if it's my skate roots or what, but I will always have a soft spot for a 5 panel cap.  With them freshly in my mind I did a quick search and found these awesome oxford cloth hats from NYC brand DQM.  Talk about clean - damn.  All the colors are perfectly washed out and subtle, not to mention extremely easy to work into whatever you are already wearing on the reg.  You can get your hands on a lot of 5 panel hats in crazy patterns and what not, but there is something to be said for someone who knows a thing or two about subtlety when it comes to their accessories.  With a perfect range of S/S colors and minimal branding these DQM joints get it right.
