Bob Sdrunk

It's that time of year again folks.  I'm talking about creepily falling in love with every single girl wearing a sundress that passes you on the street, drinking on rooftops while simultaneously not plummeting to your death and buying new sunglasses.  We're all familiar with the Ray Bans and Persols of the world.  You may even be familiar with the Oliver Peoples of the world.  But I doubt you are familiar with Bob Sdrunk.  And I only say that because no one stocks them in the United States, not because I doubt the fortitude of your sartorial scavenging skills.  You're probably wondering to yourself why the hell I am featuring an accessory on here that you can't even buy.  Well, first off, cool your goddman jets.  Relaxed?  Okay, you can buy them online.  Bob Sdrunk also has a critical European cosign - they are stocked at Rose & Born.  When my buddy tipped me off to them and called them "SICK" I asked him to elaborate further.  "They're classic and understated.  Made for the sartorially inclined."  If you don't think I was sold after that then you obviously don't know how self-involved I am.  On a much more serious note, check out the handmade in Italy goodness for yourself.  I mean, you don't want those sundress clad honeys to know you're staring, do you?

Rose & Born S/S 2011

Rose & Born is always one of, if not the most, intriguing stores I talk about on Sart Inc because unless you are going to Stockholm anytime soon it's merely inspiration in its purest form.  But if we can't use the internet for inspiration then what the hell are we doing here? Besides the copious amounts of free pornography, of course.  So yeah, for those unaware, Rose & Born is a Stockholm based menswear destination that popped up on my radar thanks to some of the highest praise I have ever encountered for private label goods.  For a primer, peep this post from last summer.  That pretty much brings us up to speed.  Anyhow, the S/S 2011 collection is now available to view online and, as should be expected, it kills.  Like, murder in the first degree, put 'em on death row and let Snoop Dogg perform at the VMA's in a wheelchair.  Consider this another Sart Inc sponsored lesson in dressed up sportswear with all my favorite elements - soft shoulders, big boy lapels, double four-in-hands, washed denims, no socks, etc.  Buttery ass Mondays are in full effect despite the fact that this was obviously shot with an iPhone.

The Born Supremacy

Whenever my buddy comes back from one of his frequent business trips to Stockholm the question never is, "Did you stop by Rose & Born?"  In fact, the question isn't even, "How was Rose & Born?"  No, it's more along the lines of, "How incredible was Rose & Born?"  Yeah, that pretty much sums up what they're working with over there.  Upon return of his most recent jaunt over to Sweden my buddy slipped me R&B's F/W 2010 lookbook and I'll be damned if these guys aren't simply operating on another level.  See for yourself.

Rose & Born Redux

Good friend of Sart Inc, Antonio, was recently in Stockholm on business and was kind enough to snap some shots of menswear mecca Rose & Born for those of us less prone to jetsetting.  For a certain style set things don't get much better than this.  In fact, I might go as far as to call Rose & Born the best kept secret in menswear.  Below you can see some shots of R&B's spectacular F/W 2010 collection, their private label double monks and a glimpse inside their retail space.  Who's up for a field trip?

Rose & Born

Putting Rose & Born's website into Google Translate was easily the smartest thing I have done today.  I've heard quite a bit about this Stockholm shop from a buddy of mine who has called it the best men's store he has ever been to.  In fact, he stopped by today while in Stockholm on business.  Established in 1989, Rose & Born presents itself as a warm haven for those not just shopping for menswear, but those who are truly interested in it as well.  I'll let R&B do the talking (excuse the somewhat choppy translation):

"We have our base in the classic British style. Add to that Italian playfulness, paint and a modern twist, you [get] Rose & Born. Before each season we design the collection of inspiration from travel, our own creativity and above all by listening to our customers. We work exclusively with Italy's leading weavers and the production of garments made in small family businesses in Italy. They are companies that live and breathe clothes and have done so for generations.  The result is clearly reflected every season."
Rose & Born's suits come in three styles: a British style with a more pronounced shoulder, an Italian/American style with a softer shoulder, higher button stance and shorter length and, finally, their most "aggressive" model which is much more trim fitting than the previous two styles.  Jackets and sportcoats, what R&B calls "man's best friend", are also one of the shop's highlights
My favorite copy from the website - "Our recommendation is that you must increasingly invest in nicer pants.  If you have not yet found a pair of trousers that fit you, you have been looking in the wrong place." Amen.

Top all this off with some of the best accessories you can find anywhere (wide knit ties, shoes manufactured by Crockett & Jones, etc.) and you have one hell of a shop.  I have no idea if I'm vacationing to Stockholm any time soon, but I know for a fact I'll be vacationing to Rose & Born asap.  Mecca status might not be an overstatement in this specific case. Just sayin'.  How weak is the krona right now?

That whole "Living and breathing clothes" bit from earlier seems about the best way to describe Rose & Born as well.  Their attention to detail along with the goods themselves is the definition of next level.  Stockholm, full of character and inspiration, is one of the most stylish cities in the entire world.  Rose & Born probably has something to do with that.
