You can now get your hands on some gear from what is easily one of my favorite new brands - Ovadia & Sons have officially launched their online store. S/S 2011 sportswear is being stocked as we speak and I have been informed that tailored pieces are on their way. Kit yourself out.

New Year's Specs
So you're one of those menswear geeks who asked Santa for some new trousers. Or maybe you find a little extra cash in that stocking of yours, which is immediately funneled into that "to-tailor" pile building up in your closet (I see you, Doc Hu). I don't know about you, but I like a very specific look to my trousers, perfectly illustrated by the picture seen below courtesy of my friends the Ovadia brothers - little to no break, 7"-8" leg opening and a 1.75"-2" cuff. I find that this produces the best looking and fitting trouser, at least for me. Now, this is obviously not some concrete rule or anything, just my personal preference and something to consider if you haven't already. In fact, I think that most guys can find the perfect look for them residing within the confines of the range of measurements listed above. If you like what you see then try taking a crack at it. If not, then forget I even mentioned it. Ultimately, if your list of new year's resolutions includes "getting dapper" (along with "lose ten pounds" and "avoid all sexual harassment charges at work") these are some specs you may want to consider.

First Look: Ovadia & Sons S/S 2011
Sart Inc introduced Ovadia & Sons a while back and I am now pleased to offer you guys the first look at their extremely impressive debut collection. I was lucky enough to meet the Ovadia brothers and get hands on with the collection a few weeks ago and can say, without a doubt, that this is a brand that should most definitely be on your radar (if not for those cargos in picture #2 alone). Utilizing the finest materials and construction techniques the world has to offer on top of an innate understand of proportion and cut, Ovadia & Sons is currently my favorite new brand in menswear. With NYFW showcasing some slight S/S stagnation this is a much needed breathe of fresh air - finely tailored fresh air.

Lusting After: Ovadia & Sons Short Sleeve Oxford
There is a lot going on with this shirt (made in the USA for anyone keeping score) - Japanese oxford cloth, short sleeves, contrast collar, plaid. Normally when you combine this many elements together at once things tend to get out of hand, but in this case Ovadia & Sons has created a short sleeve shirt that's actually easier to wear versus you normal, let's say, white short sleeve button down. Most people detest the short sleeve button down because it conjures up images of IT workers and paper pushers who have never bothered with anything even remotely stylish in their entire life. In the case of this shirt I believe that the variety of elements comes together to create a shirt that while being inherently "complicated" is still really easy to wear. Pair it with chinos or khaki shorts and you're done. This shirt is begging to be the focal point of a warm weather kit and if you let it do just that you're golden. I love the pattern most of all and it's cool to see someone do plaid oxford cloth for a change. There is no word on pricing yet or where O&S is gonna be stocked, but as soon as those details emerge you will see them over here. Trust.

Ovadia & Sons
Ovadia & Sons is a new company out of New York entering the world of hand tailored suiting. Started by two brothers whose family have been in the clothing business for 25+ years, Ovadia & Sons is their first foray into menswear and focuses on creating pieces with the best fabrics and manufactures the industry has to offer. I need to do some more research to find out where the clothing is made exactly, but I do know their ties are made by Drakes of London (shoes are also made in the UK). Regardless, things looks really good and while O&S calls their collection "cutting edge Americana" I am a tad inclined to find reference points in a much more European style of dress. Anyhow, be on the lookout for their S/S 2011 collection, a preview of which can be seen below and some of which was featured in WWD last week. I should also point out that the zig zag tie is a must own.
