Credit Where Credit Is Due

If you pay close attention to any of this menswear shit you will know that Barneys has been getting glowing reviews as of late (I'm looking at you Michael) mainly due to that fact that they are going to start carrying some of the most sought after, but hard to find brands this wide ol' world has to offer - Piombo, Ovadia & Sons, Salvatore Piccolo, Ami, Camoshita, Salvatore Piccolo, Slowear, etc.  Barneys' The Window (I'm not sure if I would call this a blog) recently interviewed CEO Mark Lee about S/S 2012 and he gives a little insight into the department store's mindset when it comes to menswear.  More importantly, however, is that my buddy Justin Doss gets shouted out.  Yeah, it happens to be in reference to his status as a street style all-star, but I just wanted people to know that Barneys' sportswear resurgence is thanks to this guy.  I do not know anyone who has better taste than Justin and it shows in all the new and exciting brands he's bringing to Madison Ave. and online.

Lusting After: Crockett & Jones Brown Suede Lowndes

Getting double monks in the US is hard. Getting Crockett & Jones double monks in the US is even harder. Getting Crockett & Jones brown suede double monks in the US was downright impossible.  But holdup, Barney's has just stepped in to make impossible nothing (I hope Adidas doesn't sue me like they sued Thom).  For one easy payment of $595 you can now get, quite possibly, the most killer double monks on the market.  This is a big coup for investment bankers and trust funders who also happen to read style blogs.  It's real nice to see someone finally sticking their neck out for that burgeoning, yet highly neglected demographic.  Rejoice!  For anyone seriously considering this purchase (and there's got to be at least one of you out there, right?) the Lowndes comes on C&J's 348 last and has a standard width.

CO-OP Barneys Red Brick Sole

The in house Barneys' line of shoes is not something that's usually on my radar, but after perusing the site I came across a few really interesting shoe options all of which featuring a red brick micro rubber sole.  The shoes are very reminiscent of options available from Mark McNairy and Trickers, but at $175 a clip are about half the price of the aforementioned high end options.  As it stands they are selling a brogue, blucher and saddle all in suede and a leather saddle as well.  No information is provided regarding country of origin or welt, but I am sure you could give Barneys a ring or shoot them an email to find out.  Overall, handsome shoes being sold at reasonable prices is something I can get down with.  You can find all four pairs towards the bottom of the page here.

Attn: Mark McNairy For Bass At Barneys

A few styles from the much hyped and talked about collaboration between Mark McNairy and Bass are now available for purchase online at Barneys.  The collection looks on point and is pretty much what we've come to expect when Mark gets his hands on something - classic Americana with his signature written all over it.  It should be no surprise Barneys is carrying the more "conservative" styles from the collection, but everything looks just as good as when the news first broke.  Despite Bass' reputation as a brand producing classic goods at great prices, this collaboration is as high end as it will ever get for the Maine based brand.  All models shown are made in the USA.
